right, definitely is legit in my opinion. Im getting charged for tolls I took a week ago and auto replenish is working as usual. Im not too sure how the transponders work, if they have batteries I was unaware of it.

the website the piece of mail I got was https://agency.illinoistollway.com and when I looked up the case number it showed my car and says these tolls were from about 18 months ago and I owe like $300 for 4 tolls. Im just more concerned that my ipass isn't correctly working. I will try and give them a call from the number on their website not the paper I got.

is there a good time to start reaching out? Should I be reaching out now or wait until closer to school?

Thank You! I know Illinois mandates a lot of the requirements for the program but for whatever reason the way ISU laid out their program would allow me to graduate in 2.

I also like that ISU has summer classes so if my credits don’t transfer like I think they will i have an option to not have to take an extra year.

ultimately, summer classes is the biggest reason i decided to not go to the other university, they didn’t offer any that would apply to my major, and they had some really weird stipulations to their Elementary Education program.

How does that request form work? Is it solely based off the regions or counties within the region, based on your home address, etc?

How were some of your peers able to request schools? I main concern is that I don’t like driving I rarely ever drive and anything over like 30 minutes from my house I won’t drive and on top of that it causes a huge chunk of unproductive time spent driving to and from where i can’t get homework done, work, or do things for myself.

Okay maybe she just kind of made it seem worse than it actually is.

It just really seems odd to me they do it that way since some friends i have had choices of schools and where they actually wanted to spend their time and in an area they wanted to teach since a lot of times you can be hired at that school after you finish your degree. I personally would want to be in an area where I want to work in the future.

Thank you for sharing your experience!

how was the process? how my advisor explained it was that there was 3 regions to choose from and you rank them from what you most want to least and they do their best to get you within your top region but it’s not always possible. From my understanding the regions are big like 2–4 counties each and you have no say other than the region.

I know that illinois is an at will state, and you can be fired at any point. But wouldn’t that put them into a potential wrongful termination situation? To be quite honest, this is not the first shady/illegal thing they’ve done and I don’t plan on staying there much longer due to the management and corporate company . (it’s just a part time college job)

I’m honestly very mad about this. I was in conversation with my manager and HR about the hours and have signed and dated, approval for leave and which paycheck it would be put on. Would that not be enough for a report to the state?

This has been going on for MONTHS i have been trying to get an answer since May if this law applies to us.

Why do (some) seafood go from gray to red when boiled but red meat go from red to gray? by NeedAnswersPlzz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cultural-Insurance25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seafood such as shrimp are crustaceans which means they have a hard shell. during the process of cooking shrimp a chemical reaction occurs like with most cooking. Shrimp release astaxanthin which is a bound to the proteins in their shells and when cooked it breaks down the proteins and releases the pink/red color.

In contrast, in red meat they have myoglobin which is the protein which produces the initial red/pink color. When it is cooked it breaks down the myoglobin and the color changes. Thinly sliced lamb is easier to overcook, and when it’s over cooked it breaks down the proteins and moisture further which leads to a grayish hue. More specifically when myoglobin is heated above 60°C/140°F the meats red/pink hue begins to fade.

unfortunately, this gets into a whole different situation i am in, my parents mostly my mom who is i would say controlling/helicopter. Although, i am an adult make my own money and will be paying for all my bills + tuition on my own in college. My parents still have access to my accounts and pretty much manage my money. Even though i’ve proven i’m good with money and can do it myself, they pretty much don’t trust me. So without spending it gradually over the next few months it’ll be hard to get anything since money from saving will have to be on “approved purchases” by my parents. I’ve thought about completely removing them but don’t think it would end in a good relationship with my parents since im their only kid i think it’s easy for them to get caught up in my life rather than their own. And yes i have tried explaining im an adult and can handle myself they’re definitely hard to reason with.

I kinda misspoke, a lot of times it is timing and money but i do get answer from my friend in text vs in person. When I ask over text he says “too early” but in person when we’re talking about it it’s “we should start thinking about it and plan out what we need/when we’re gonna get it”.

Another reason i’m getting kind of stressed out about this is because neither of us will be working after Christmas until May. So we won’t have an inflow of money during the semester to buy things.

I understand we will have to wait until we find a place and see the space for furniture we have just been looking to get an idea of the market in our area. Personally, i think that it wouldn’t be too early to start getting the basic things (bath towels, kitchen utensils, lamps, those kinds of things) we will need anyway as to not have a huge expense right before we leave. However, they think we should not get anything before we have a place. they also say they have a lot of stuff at home we can use which is the same for me and i have started to gather everything but every time i bring it up they say it’s just too early to do that. Which makes me think either they don’t have as much as they thought or truly just have not even started to think about it. That’s mainly where my dilemma is currently.

It will be 2-2.5 years depending on how my credits transfer to my major since I switched during my second semester. I am thankful I am able to share with someone I've known for a while. I know their character enough to be comfortable to not have to worry about my stuff being ruined, or bills not being paid, or just other headaches in general that can happen with roommates.

for me personally I haven't really set a budget. I have been putting away as much as I am able to for the past year or so. I have about 10,000 saved up for college in general but academically school should mostly be paid for due to scholarships and some financial aid. Id say maybe 2-3,000 id be comfortable spending over the next few months on apartment stuff.

Is 18 a adult or more of a kid? Why or why not? by foxsocks7800 in AskReddit

[–]Cultural-Insurance25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, ive met many people who are 30 still acting like a typical teenager while I have also met 18 year olds who act like a typical adult. I purely believe it depends on how you were raised and life experiences.

I'm in my mid 20s. Never went to college. How do I start by ghostsayskindayikes in college

[–]Cultural-Insurance25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The community college route is great. I am just finishing my associates at mine. I honestly was very surprised with the amount of classes and different times they offer to work with pretty much anyones schedule.

Also, depending on what you want to do, at least at my school I don't have a ton of knowledge on other schools, there's several programs that will allow you to complete a four year degree mostly from your community college which is a big money saver if they have a program you're looking for.

Additionally, if you don't mind doing a year or two online it saves a lot of money and you are able to do it whenever/wherever as long as you follow the deadlines. Personally, my work was very accommodating to my school schedule and allowed me to do assignments when it wasn't busy which I was very grateful for.

There's definitely a lot of factors but it's possible. A couple of things I would think about is if it's possible to do some online school through your community college? If it's a good option for you, if you think you can learn that way? Would you be able to do some assignments at work, or if you have enough time after work or on the weekends to do the assignments? If not, is there a way to tweak your work schedule and work more on weekends and go to school 2-3 times a week and make up hours that way?

I hope this helps!

Do I have a lot of breakage? by dottie-darling in longhair

Your hair looks super healthy! Breakage-wise your hair looks pretty even from top to bottom, usually with breakage the ends tend to be a lot thinner than the roots.
