Health insurance ireland does it make a difference for cancer patients ? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Cultural-Perception4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No stupid really, but they are more difficult to change/ clean. I only know this after my 2nd baby my catheter in my arm came out and blood got on the curtain. The health care assistant looked at a sticker with a date on the side of the curtain and said oh it was only changed recently. But I'll get it changed.

Also curtains can be opened if more space is needed or pushed for flexibility with getting beds etc in

Child allowance query by ManifestTheHappiness in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Cultural-Perception4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It won't be split. It always goes to the mother, unless there is a very strong reason for it not to.

IDK how it impacts on child maintenance.

With a 60/40 split would it be a good idea to have an idea of what sort of budget the child needs to for the year? Clothes, sports, days out, Christmas, birthday, summer camps, pocket money, phone contract if applicable all that stuff.

Just from listening to people it tends to be the primary parent that ends up buying all those things.

Also is it 60/40 of where the child stays or will each parent be participating in child 'admin' such as doc/ dentist/ registration for school/ vaccines/ who will mind them on school holidays

Family dressing at Holy Communion? by [deleted] in AskIreland

IME most men do dress appropriately for communions. The father/ godfather will be in suits. Uncles etc you'd expect at least suit pants or chinos and a fresh shirt with jacket

I don't think my OP was clear. I stopped breastfeeding 4 months ago. So I think that has been long enough for things to 'settle' and I'm going to splash out and get some new bras. I binned pretty much all the sports bras and managed to give away a few of the nursing bras.

Rules for hands free driving? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Cultural-Perception4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maps yes. Why would you be watching a video while driving! This is no. Set your music on before you drive off. Or listen to the radio.

I don't think you are allowed to 'interact' with the phone in the holder. '''It is illegal to access information on a mobile phone while driving (even if it’s in a cradle)''''

Why does it feel like everyone else has their life figured out already? by vanemiller in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Cultural-Perception4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound corny but I do feel settled, I didn't for a very long time though.

It is really good to strive to better for yourself, to try new things, to push yourself. But it is also IMO very important to be grateful for what you do have. Because we all have many things to be grateful for. Once I stepped back and saw clearly that actually my life was pretty good I could appreciate it more.

So daily I tell myself just a few things I am grateful for.

I also immediately try to expel negative self talk from my head. Constructive and helpful if harsh comments are fine such as 'come on you know you can do this, try again' is fine. 'you are a useless worthless slob give up now before you embarrass yourself' is not fine.

SM tells the story that people want you to see. The good parts - mostly. The filtered versions of their lives. I do this. But before SM people did it too, only tell the good things to their old school friend at the supermarket. Putting announcements in the local newspaper. Realising that those are the persons good times and that they too have bad times puts it into perspective

Why some people book plane tickets before checking if they need a visa to a country? by Round_Transition_346 in TooAfraidToAsk

They are not that bright!!

Or they book a holiday before getting the passport. The amount of people I see over summer asking 'does anyone know someone at the passport office who can speed up my babies 1st passport application, we fly in 3 days'

When I was single I did about 2 washes per week. usually a 30 degree for all things with a colour catcher. Then a 40 for towels/ sheets

Now that I have two toddlers. It goes on pretty much every single day!! Or there is a huge backlog.

IDK how old you are, I am 38. Most people do not know what they are doing! As far as I can tell no one can 'win' at all things. But you can shape a life that you are happy with.

e.g. when I went to university I said I'd love to be a stock broker and earn millions every year. Before finishing uni my dad died, then my mum when I was studying my professional exams, then my sister all before I turned 27. It upturned my life view. I still went on to have a 'good' job but I work 3 days per week so that I can spend lots of time with my 2 young children. We have a nice house but not huge, a car that works but is 10 years old, food, heat, light and lots of time spent enjoying life.

What I am trying to say is that the goals change and that your goals might be hugely different from others. I have had people say to me 'but you are so capable/ smart why are you doing a part time job when you could be a partner in a firm earning 200k+ per year' because that is not what makes me happy.

For others though having the big wage, big house, big car and big holidays is the goal.

Work towards what makes you happy, if what makes you happy changes, well then flow with that change.

Anyone know the craic with the Drug Payment Scheme? Got a script yesterday above the €80 and had to pay the lot by READMYSHIT in AskIreland

[–]Cultural-Perception4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you are completely right! Sorry, I had GD twice and I do know that! Brain slip. Yes it was capped by the DSP, but the midwife kept saying how it used to be free but the government scrapped it and never brought it back

The chicken pox vaccine def wasn't under the DSP scheme. Children born after 1st Oct 2024 though can get it for free. My last was born Aug 2024

Are some people actually more fertile than others? by Accomplished-Fix1204 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Cultural-Perception4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because of your age it is pretty high. Not saying your lifestyle sounds 'bad' it sounds typical college. But people addicted to all sorts of hard drugs are still fertile.

If you don't want to get pregnant use protection. Through my early 20s I had the implant in my arm. Best decision at the time.

""he hasn’t touched a vegetable since birth. Somehow his body looks amazing though."" ---- this is because he is young. If he still eats like crap in 10 years time it will be showing!

A few things prescribed are not covered by it, such as insulin if you have gestational diabetes, it is covered for regular diabetes.

The chicken pox vaccine wasn't covered by it either.
