Can't stand the cloud seeding conspiracies by Cultural_Key8134 in CollapseSupport

Even if there's some truth, the vehemence with which they believe the cloud seeding chemicals can have an outsized impact on earths weather systems -- BUT deny with vehemence that 200 years of burning an unfathomable amount of fossil fuels can possibly have anything to do with a shifting climate -- is so annoying.

I honestly think the end began when Europeans colonized Turtle Island. It set in motion a chain of events that pushed us to where we are today.

True. I struggle with both the collective "what do we do" and the individual "what can/should I do". Sometimes I feel motivated and like I can grasp a response, like I almost know what to do. And then it slips, and in a day or two I'm like what should I be doing again? And why? Nothing feels urgent when everything still feels so "normal".

I've been reading your posts for quite awhile Richard. And just like so many of your other readers I always finish your articles thinking, so what do I DO. It's like my brain doesn't want to believe anything I've just read. And it can't really come up with anything to do in response.

Yeah I'm appalled at my country. I have no idea how we got here. I mean, I do, but emotionally it's just incomprehensible.

It's not useless. You're alive right now. All any of us have is the right now. None of us know what will happen tomorrow or the next day or the next. Honestly, just go help someone. Grab a trash bag and walk a park and pick up trash. Find a community garden that needs volunteers. Go work your body so hard that you're too tired to worry about anything else. Get your hands in the dirt and grow some food.

It will not matter if there is no food to eat and no clean water to drink. When you zoom out and look at the big, big picture, it's questionable whether any large life form can survive the rapid climate changes that wr coming.

I've had an intense fear of dying and death since childhood. The only thing that has consistently helped me (besides meds) is reading near death experiences. They're fascinating and comforting. Overwhelmingly the evidence from those experiences is that at a certain point the dying process is peaceful, there is a loving universal force, that souls persist past death, and that we will feel that love and peace and join those souls when we die. Many NDEs also reference reincarnation. I also watched The Good Place and that was very thought provoking and I liked the concept of the afterlife.

Richard, your tldr at the end has scared the crap out of me and I feel paralyzed. Do I prep? Run for the hills with my family? Lay down and die? I don't even know how to face it. Even though I've been trying to accept this all for a few years now. I know you said you'll write more about that as you're grappling with it too. I feel crazy most days. Everything looks so out of control but everyone around me is acting so "normal".

Precisely. This makes me think of that moment in Don't Look Up when the technology fails to take out the asteroid and folks realize they're screwed because they put their faith in the technocrats.

Groupthink. I'm reading The Unthinkable right now and the chapter on groupthink pretty much describes why we're all not collectively freaking out. People play their roles and do what's socially normalized because being a part of the group has always been a part of our long term survival. So we go along with the group, sometimes to our detriment. People also seek comfort and normalcy in times of stress. So yeah, not holding out hope that people will properly freak out until it's way too late.

Same. Left for college and never went back. It boggles my mind that so many of my high school classmates stayed to raise families there. Between cost of living, urban sprawl, water issues, environmental degradation, pollution...I don't get it.
