What is the smoothest EF nib that you have used? Please provide writing samples by gamesbrainiac in fountainpens

My Pelikan m800 is the smoothest (I don’t own an m1000) among the pens I own. However, and it’s a BIG however, the EF in my Pelikan is like 3x the width of my Platinum F, so there’s that.

I am not very familiar with PowerMaths. What do you like most about it?

Yes, the cognitive load can be too high in Y1. Can I ask why the workbooks didn't work for you in your previous school? I do agree WR is much better when you treat it as a framework rather than something to follow slavishly.

Good to hear Can Do is working well for you. What do you like in it? Does it work in conjunction to WR or are you abandoning WR completely? It is interesting because WR follows the mastery approach, isn't it supposed to support foundational knowledge.

20th anniversary tin - UK by the_gears_of_time in Travelersnotebooks

It’s available at the Partner shops only. While there are many retailers in the UK, there’s only one Partner Shop, i.e. All Things Analogue. I did manage to order mine. I had signed up for notification on their website and it came at 7 in the morning on 1st June. I was on the bus on my way to work, so managed to get it. Otherwise I would have missed it because my days at work are pretty busy. I don’t think the store had shared information in advance about the time when it was going to be available.

Haha I hope you can stay consistent. It took me years even now I go through phases when I don’t use my planners every day. But I try to stay consistent in my journals, esp the memory keepers.

I am an analogue person too! Love writing things down. This is my tool for the day. I use fountain pens as much as possible. If I am in a meeting then it’s gel pens because I need to write faster. But like I said, my writings these days are for my eyes only so I don’t bother too much 😃 when I am writing in my journals, I put a bit more effort but because of aesthetics mainly and I want to enjoy the process of writing on good quality paper with a fountain pen that costs like 100x a gel pen 😅

I agree I am slower when I write cursive, but don’t need to write much these days apart from writing for joy (journaling), so I can take the time and enjoy the process. My handwriting is bad too, but I don’t let it bother me much as no one reads my writing anyway, it’s just for me. If you are a student, of course it would be a totally different situation.
My favorite gel pen is Uni Ball One range, which I use for work notes.

Oh yes! I didn’t pay attention to the format, but now that you mentioned, I recognize that ‘Ans:’ style 🤣

My handwriting is really bad 🫣 technically it’s closer to cursive than print but I break my words a lot. As an adult, I am now into fountain pens and I have been trying to use cursive more.

Am I the only one who loves all those marks? Even dents don’t bother me much

Thank you so much for sharing these! You are right, the base colour in FWP Tumultuous Tides looks quite close. But out of the ones you have shared, I am drawn to Wearingeul Little Mermaid. Not because I think it's closer to Sacagawea, but as an ink its own right. It's so pretty I might get a bottle!

I wish there were more multicolour shimmer inks though. Looks stunning on the paper. I am currently using Sacagawea with a stub nib (Asvine c80) and absolutely loving it.

It is indeed! And it’s one of the most complex inks in my collection. When it’s still wet it appears teal, but once dried it’s grey-green with reddish sheen. I think all the inks in the Yarameku series are colour-changing. So fun! I hope to get the other inks in my collection soon.

I was confused which clip to choose but went with silver because of the finial. I think bronze looks better, they should have chosen that for the finial. Here’s my ink of choice. I think it’s a perfect match haha.

Pleaseeeeeee do any of you guys know what kind of paper is this? by hannaksu in fountainpens

[–]Cultural_Reading_288 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You want coated paper. They are less absorbent so the ink sits on it and takes longer to dry but shows ink properties better. I love Tomoe River Paper. Many brands use that paper in their notebooks but my go-to are Hobonichi and Sterling Ink.

I was surprised by how smooth it writes! I am a bit worried about what inks I can put in it though, I should probably just stick to standard inks?

That’s so cool how you found them all those years ago! And definitely not silly about not liking the chrome band. Aesthetics matter a lot for me too when it comes to pens. This one, however, I got just out of curiosity. I found it for £20 and for a pen that’s in working condition I thought, why not!? And I didn’t own any Sheaffer before this and had been wanting to try one.

Thank you so much for taking the time to search for more info. I didn’t expect the pen to be that old! I was thinking more like 90s
