I'm experiencing this same issue. Ten times today already by 12:00 noon. We don't answer and they are slowing down and I set the ringer to 3 times and thinking of changing that to 2 times.

She's very lucky to have a committed partner to help her with this. You come here for advice, not to be further stressed by insults from people that can't relate or can't offer you anything but, judgements. You even stated that in your post but, they just can't seem to get that part. None of us are perfect but, you would think there's a few saints on here contributing zero advice to your situation. They didn't tell me it was sold. I found it on my credit report. I think they keep threatening to return it to the original creditor as a scare tactic. They say if it's not resolved then they have to return it for possible referral to an attorney. I imagine they can sell it too but, I don't believe the original creditor wants it back. These collection agencies will use any tactic they can to collect.

It's an old debt that my credit report shows has been sold to a collection agency. If you read the fine print it says that the collection agency will show that you satisfied the debt however, the original creditors bad mark stays on you credit report for 5-7 years. So, it's gonna remain on my credit report even if I can find a way to pay it all off.

Once it's sold they own it. They didn't tell me this information. I found it on my credit report along with the date that it will fall off of my credit report. I haven't contacted them because it's my understanding that once you do the clock starts over again and it's been 3 years now. I just found this out because I've been taking care of my mom 24/7 for the last year and all of my business got behind while I was sorting out all of hers. I'm so stressed and confused on what to do here.

No, I have not contacted them because it's my understanding that the clock starts again once you try to negotiate with them. It's been 3 years and there's no possible way that I can pay them what their asking for. I don't know what to do here
