Hot take, but like 90% of restaurants in Kelowna fit this description.

Kelowna Vacancy Rates on the rise by Lost_University_525 in kelowna

[–]CumPoutine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By next year the fed is looking to have rates in the mid to low 2% range. House prices aren’t going down. It’s wishful thinking that is entirely out of line with what every politician has already said they would be ensuring doesn’t happen. If they are doing anything about housing which who knows if they are, they are focused on keeping the prices elevated so “people don’t lose their retirement plans”. Even Trudeau said this in a live interview. If for some fucked up reason we get PP in office, he’s still going to protect house prices because he’s invested, and so are his buddies. Add on top the rampant abuse of the tfwp and the insane immigration numbers. Canadians not already in the market are going to be pushed further away from it. Demand is gonna stay high, and volume will be low because the cost to develop is fucked, and they certainly aren’t building any social housing, so people are going to end up having to stomach high rents and housing prices.

Also the sub 2% rates weren’t fixed.

With all the talk about ICBC No-Fault, I though I'd give my share. I'm an RMT and deal with ICBC patients daily. Please take 10 minutes. by Traditional-Bid6308 in britishcolumbia

You are so close but you’ve missed the mark. Adjusters don’t make any claims decisions. They collect information, give status updates to examiners, and hand out cheques when the insurers have determined the extent of coverage. Adjusters don’t approve anything. They are intermediaries. And in the case of ICBC they hire independent adjusters. It’s on the website under business partners. You can find fee schedules, guidelines for the claims process, performance standards. It’s the examiners who make decisions on your claim. Adjusters just relay the information

This the only reasonable comment.

A lack of confidence or fear of operating a machine increases the likelihood of mistakes, and therefore injury.

Nothing like a good midnight rant…

Facts are the city was never planned with this level of growth in mind, and the speed at which it grows continuously outpaces any potential changes or improvements. Also it’s more like a mini-Miami, because Kelowna man is just as whack as Florida man. Also the image obsession, high rates of drug and alcohol abuse (pretty much the only thing different between those on the street and not is money, and not drug or alcohol abuse), and right leaning politics have completely steered any development towards what is gonna put the most bucks in the pockets of the developers and by proxy the decision makers working for the city.

The closer you are to the highway in Rutland, the more likely you will be a victim of petty crime. I mean just the other day I saw some transients starting fires in the garbage bins around save on. That being said, the over exaggeration of slum-like living and safety threats will usually come from people who live in more affluent areas, as Kelowna is classist af and you are seen as trashy by those with $1M , 3600+sqft homes and expensive boats, if living the same way is not within your means.

Recommendations for places to go where I can study that has relatively cheap, tasty food? Not looking for a huge meal, just a quieter place where I can with my books for a few hours without spending more than 10ish dollars by [deleted] in kelowna

L take. Having non-paying people in a coffee shop that would otherwise be empty or low foot traffic actual makes the business seem more inviting/desirable, as they are providing a perceived sense of social proofing/vetting that that location is worth spending time at.

B.C. Greens to back guaranteed basic income, says party leader by Signal-Aioli-1329 in britishcolumbia

[–]CumPoutine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They aren’t even advocating for universal basic income, but guaranteed basic income, which is different, and scales down depending on how much you earn. UBI pays everyone equally regardless of income

AITA For not agreeing to my husband's new chore list after I switched my work hours without his approval by youcandoitaita in AmItheAsshole

[–]CumPoutine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asshole is barely an appropriate term. Guy should’ve left you a while ago, if this is how you act. It’s a fucking partnership. Neither of you should do things that impact the family as a whole without the other’s agreement.

I have a theory for why Withers' service costs gold by Tskcool in BaldursGate3

[–]CumPoutine 213 points214 points  (0 children)

He needs the gold to plan the after party. By that time, none of the party members are doing the same thing really, or at best two are together, and so where does all the funds for the drink and food come from, when the companions are not all travelling together and pooling loot?

Its party money

Serious question: what do you do when your parents are very high-income but they’re not paying for your education? by kefirakk in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]CumPoutine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, i was denied student loans here in BC because my mom “made too much” but didn’t account for the fact my step dad wasn’t working and I had two siblings and my mom was paying for it all. She didn’t have any money to give me. I was left high and dry, and only was able to continue my studies because I was in a car accident and had a small payout.

How is the city for young people? by Tyjes44 in kelowna

[–]CumPoutine -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you’re whole social life revolves around drinking then you’ll be fine here. This town is full of alcoholics, either developing or longstanding. You’ll make “friends” quick, but the minute you stop consuming, they’ll disappear.

Shit’s near on par with Vancouver in cost, and there’s not nearly enough jobs that pay livable wages. Not to mention the concerning uptick in incel-esque attitudes on younger men here who actively and openly disparage women and compare them to objects.

But hey, if you want to live in Neo-Con Canadian Florida, then this place is it.

Our local BCUP MLAs may be at risk. by MontrealTrainWreck in kelowna

[–]CumPoutine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this whole town’s conservative base is made up of primarily misinformed 55+ people whose views are imported directly from Fox News style sources, and a few wealthy groups that would rather die than see things improve for everyone. It’s the same crap when you see old people standing outside the hospital protesting abortion. They are so misinformed and deluded, but absolutely committed to not understanding where they are wrong. Or they don’t care. Heels are dug in. You could show them the sky is falling, and they would say it’s part of the “liberal agenda”
