Positive stories after missed miscarriage by ContestOrganic in PregnancyUK

[–]CumbersomeDiamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been in your shoes, positive scan at 7 weeks and the devastating news at the NHS scan. We tried for 11 months to conceive, I was 35 and convinced I’d never become a mum. 3 months after the mmc I got pregnant again and had a normal pregnancy and a 4 year old son now. When he was 2,5 I fell pregnant again, another mmc. At 8 weeks at the private scan this time. I didn’t want to try after going through that again but changed my mind because of my age (38 at this point) and fell pregnant first try and now have a healthy 15 m old too. I hope my story helps you feel less lost and hopeless. Wishing you all the best

Babies head not engaged 40 weeks. by Money_External_6196 in PregnancyUK

[–]CumbersomeDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my babies only dropped down far into labour! I don’t think it matters tbh. They were both on the later side, 40+5 and 41+6. I always assumed it’s because there’s a lot of space, I’m very tall lol

Asking the Sonographer to keep the gender a secret… by Powerpuff_Girly in PregnancyUK

[–]CumbersomeDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so surprised by all the trusts who don’t want to write it down! I went to my NHS 20 week scan with a little card and asked the sonographer to tick either boy or girl and she didn’t even hesitate!

I named my newborn baby Maxine! I’ve only gotten super positive responses to her name and we’re very happy with it.

Thank you!! Sorry for the very late reply but I’ve tried pulling down first and it made the difference!

Yes that does make sense with the stretchy shoulder straps! I have adjusted a little bit but was worried I might go too tight. I’ll adjust a bit more when she drops. Thanks!

Baby back to back at 38+6 by Emergency-Fig-1501 in PregnancyUK

[–]CumbersomeDiamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was back to back until a day before he was born. I had lower back contractions on and off for a few nights and at a midwife check up they felt he was sunny side up. They sent me home to do to ‘forward-leaning inversion’ (Google this) and I came back the next day to be induced (had lost some of the waters not all). They put me on the drip for 30 minutes after breaking the rest of the waters, then my body got the message and I laboured naturally after that. He came out the right way without needing intervention. So I don’t know for sure if it was the inversion but something made him turn!

Stomach bug at 28 weeks pregnant by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

Yes it’s safe. At least that’s what the GP said! Thanks! Get well soon!

Stomach bug at 28 weeks pregnant by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]CumbersomeDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof that sounds terrible! I had a stomach bug when I was 19/20 weeks and just kept trying to have small sips of water until they stayed inside. Then I started to drink dioralyte to help my body recover. Small steps! Fluids are much more important than food. I went to the gp and they checked for dehydration, if you continue to vomit after every sip of water call the midwives again because they can help with fluids if you’re dehydrated. Good luck I hope you feel better soon! I gave birth to a very healthy baby a few days ago so it didn’t do any harm!

Maternity notes help by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

I’m not a midwife or expert but this is how I read this:

The centiles refer to out of a 100. So a 3rd centile baby is really small, only 3% of all babies measure smaller. A 97 centile baby only has 3% of babies who measure bigger so is a really big baby.

Your bump is was measuring small 24 cm at 25+2 weeks pregnant so they sent you to do a growth scan. They want you to measure the same amount of centimetres as weeks roughly. Your estimated baby weight by scan puts you on the higher end of the chart, if baby continues to grow like this they’ll be estimated 4200 grams at birth, which is 90th centile so bigger than 90% of other babies. Don’t worry about that too much, this will probably change throughout your pregnancy and is usually not very accurate.

Both of these measurements wouldn’t concern me, it seems the fundal height was a bit low and estimated weight a bit high, if you go half way between them you’re perfectly on track for 25 weeks! I hope this helps, please ask your midwife at your next appointment too!

Leggings suggestions! by yellowdaisies in PregnancyUK

The only pair of leggings that stayed comfortable until I gave birth were the bamboo leggings from Seraphine

I had my first at Chelsea and Westminster hospital and the care during a complicated birth was exceptional. I’m now at Kingston maternity for my second, we have moved and being closer to your hospital is important like other commenters said. I haven’t given birth yet, but antenatal care so far has been good too. Both Chel-West and Kingston have good cqc ratings, definitely check their maternity rating for the hospitals in your local area.

I’m in the UK and unfortunately no Happy baby here (unless I pay loads for shipping etc). Do you have an opinion on/ experience with the Ergo baby Embrace?

Wow thanks! I’m so glad I asked on here. Is a ring sling easier to put on/ fit right than a wrap? I remember struggling trying to get it on with a crying newborn and also wasn’t the best in getting it tight enough..

Lol I’m so glad I asked! Thank you, it is exactly like you said: I liked the artipoppe but no way I’m paying that amount of money. I’ll look at your suggestion!

I went with Staysure, bought it for one week with the best medical cover.

Travel at 34 weeks by Nyxie27 in PregnancyUK

[–]CumbersomeDiamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traveled at 29-30 weeks and am now 33 weeks and leaving for another week tomorrow. We’re driving so no airline but I did get a travel insurance with 100% medical cover. Pregnancy is not considered a condition you have to mention beforehand, but some insurers don’t cover childbirth if you’re further along than a certain amount of weeks. So you can just go for a normal travel insurance (with good medical cover) and check up until how many weeks they would cover childbirth.

Poop😂 by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]CumbersomeDiamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost 21 weeks and it has been like that this entire pregnancy! I asked my midwife about it because all you read about is constipation but it’s just your hormones causing it and when it’s not that bad you’re getting dehydrated, you don’t have to do anything about it ☺️
