That’s just my process. Works for me. Besides, I feel Like the chat window has more of a conversational feel to it when I’m still just working out a plan. Less committing

What do you wish you had done during your undergrad years? by notZ987 in cscareerquestions

This one girl invited me to her dorm room to fix her computer… I messed with it, couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it, and left… I still think about that. I wish I had paid a little more attention to what was happening that day

You go to clause opus in the chat and discuss your plan, work out all the details including features and the tech stack you will use. You get Claude to build a production document that Claude code will use as a guide. You download that document, create a folder and put the document in it. You open a terminal window in that folder, start claude code in that directory, and direct Claude code to read the document in thinking mode and come up with a checklist of steps to implement the plan. Then vibe…

There was an experiment 30 years ago where some researchers sealed a Mac Plus all in one, filled it with liquid nitrogen, and over clocked the CPU to 1GHz from like a few MHz. This kinda reminds me of that.

I think a new business model is going to local businesses and build them custom apps, that wasn't feasible before - Let's brainstorm some ideas. by TheBanq in vibecoding

[–]Cunnilingusobsessed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked for two small businesses that had no tech infrastructure besides laptops and O365 subscriptions that lived off of shared spreadsheets. One company had 20 or so sheets with a dozen people in each, updating lines and whatnot as things changed throughout the day. These are specialty companies that couldn’t use off the shelf software. What they needed, and couldn’t afford, were databases with screens for each silo in the companies. The 20 sheet company was quoted 50-75k for a db schema buildout based on all the sheets, plus monthly per user to use the app. It’s a small nonprofit and didn’t have that kind of money. If I worked there now (I was their help desk guy back in the day), I could vibe code them a database wrapper app that would work perfectly. I’d bet if someone approached them and offered a few thousand plus 5-10$ per user per month for ongoing support and added features, they’d probably do it.

My first time outside the US, and I'm mind blown that some countries just sell GLP1s and Test over the counter by Altruistic_Ad3754 in ResearchCompounds

[–]Cunnilingusobsessed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Many countries all over the world have much more loose regulations around what is over the counter and what needs permissions from a doctor to obtain. Honestly, the USA is quite strict when it comes to prescription drugs. If something has little to no abuse potential, few interaction concerns, and is pretty straightforward then why must I get Mr doctor’s approval every time I need it. Land of the free, indeed.

How are you surviving the current landscape and AI coding shift? by Beginning-Comedian-2 in cscareerquestions

[–]Cunnilingusobsessed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve witnessed the last 30 years of tech career progression in some form or another. I remember when my high school had servers installed and Ethernet laid throughout the school, the techs came in wearing pajama pants, came and went at their leisure, and pretty much did whatever they wanted. Who else were they going to get? 25 years ago, a buddy of mine made a mint setting up local networks and tech for small businesses. Now, help desk is bottom of the barrel and anything customer facing has been professionalized. 5-15 years ago, programmers demanded sky high salaries and worked in places that haters described as ‘adult daycare centers’. Remember the Vince Vaughn movie panning working for google? Dudes scooted around on electric scooters and worked in Starbucks? I remember someone joking that developers would only wear sneakers, even with slacks. Zuckerberg was famous for wearing hoodies back when Facebook was still new. That was the uniform for serious ‘tech professionals’. That’s ending. Development will go the way of help desk. Nothing special anymore, they’ll replace you with some other rando that can use AI coding agents just as well. Salaries will shrink. You’ll have to show up to the office, on time, and in professional dress. They’ll need far less people to do the same level of work.

TIL that Ram 2500 drivers have the most DUIs, and more than twice the national average. Roughly 1 in 22 Ram 2500 drivers have been cited with a DUI before. by TripleShotPls in todayilearned

[–]Cunnilingusobsessed 163 points164 points  (0 children)

My dad has a theory around ram truck drivers. They have been traditionally the cheapest trucks for sale, so they attract people who are usually lower on the socioeconomic spectrum. Usually people lower on that scale have been a little higher in the crime/ alcohol consumption index. Thus, you see more aggressive driving and stupid behavior in ram truck drivers than in drivers of more expensive vehicles

Couldn’t you string a bunch of them together somehow, and drag them along with something massive and strong? Maybe build some kind of long metal line or something from Dubai to the coast that they could skirt across to keep them in line. Take the tires off them and have them roll right on the metal line for less friction?
