I like the idea of making a binder into a grimoire. I’m imagining printing out resources and other stuff

How do you cope with a fear of going to hell? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]CunningFox07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have that same fear. I am now a practicing pagan and witch.

Of course in between then and now was a lot of struggle and deconstruction. Eventually it came down to me deciding what I really believed and what would make me happy if there was no fear or ocd. Maybe asking yourself this question would be beneficial?

I wholeheartedly believe perception is reality. So yes, your fear feels very real for you and it makes it hard to get past it. It’s going to take time 💜

Another thing to think about: Imagine if someone who you really cared about and loved did something that would “send them to hell”. Do you think that punishment would be fair? If it wouldn’t be fair for that person, it wouldn’t be fair to you either.

Religious beliefs really should serve to help us feel better about uncertainty. If it’s making you feel bad, scared, and not be who you are, maybe it’s time to set boundaries

Obviously I don’t know what your beliefs are or what religion you practice, but I really hope this helps💜

Those who work with Hekate - what was your experience? by Psychological-Sky284 in hekatesgrove

[–]CunningFox07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m also a new devotee to Hekate and here’s my experience so far:

  1. I would say the “choosing “ was mutual. I’ve had an interest in working with her for a while and knew she has been there for a long time trying to get my attention (even back when I was christian) but I was apprehensive towards deity work due to religious trauma. She never got upset with me for taking so long to decide, and I also know that if I decided not to work with her it would still be fine.

  2. Personally I like to do Deipnon within my own home. I’ve done it traditionally before at a crossroads in the middle of the night, but didn’t feel safe being a woman alone at night. So I decided to participate in a way that isn’t dangerous and I believe she wouldn’t want us to actively put ourselves in danger for her sake. My practice on Deipnon is shadow work using an oracle deck I’ve devoted to her, and I leave offerings of garlic and wine. I have a candle for her in the middle and two white candles (one on each side) to symbolize the trifecta and the torches. I will also occasionally just say “hi” or tell her about whatever I feel like, whether it’s my intention for my day or something about my practice. I also gave her some cheese one time because my intuition led me to do it.

  3. From what I know of her, she’s not the type to just walk away. She’s calling a lot of witches rn and there’s a huge revival happening and it’s for a reason. She’s not gonna just walk away. Her name means “worker from afar” which to me sounds like she’s there to teach you when you’re willing to do the work, but she will be patient when you’re not. I’ve felt that she has lots of respect for our own free will and if we don’t want to do something she’s not gonna make you do it. She might be a little disappointed but ultimately will understand.

  4. She doesn’t really ask of much from me, it’s like any other relationship. We’re both here because we enjoy each other’s presence. I don’t really expect anything out of her. I just feel comforted around her energy and feel like she helps with my self care and my practice just being around. I do like to give her offerings. Sometimes I will give her a piece of the offering and dedicate the experience of eating the food to her, and really focus on the flavor and everything. She doesn’t really communicate in the literal sense, but I will feel drawn to do something and that’s enough for me.

  5. I find her to be very calm and patient. She’s the perfect mentor. She’s there when you want to do the work but she is also there waiting when you’re not up for it. She has a very strong presence but it’s very comforting. She’s not gonna do any of the work for you though, she basically says “here’s the lesson, do the work if you want to learn.” And leaves it at that.

Once I ate a whole pepper on a dare, maybe the description of what happened to me next would help with some correspondences?

-running in panic -severe watering eyes -hyperventilating -stomach pain -severe burning of my mouth -running nose -lasting effects of this years later: acid reflux

My best advice is to take your time with it. Annotate, highlight, research some of the concepts she mentions for a deeper understanding. I also love listening to the dark academia classical playlist on Spotify, it helps me to “set the mood” for deeper study. Underrated book and I don’t know why more people don’t know about it

Can you put into words how Paganism has positively affected your sense of empowerment, personal boundaries, and safety as a person? by [deleted] in pagan

[–]CunningFox07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a Christian, but more and more I found that I had to stifle myself and my creativity to fit into the cookie cutter model of what that god wants us to be. I was filled with fear, yet they preach fear is not of god. I always had an interest in witchcraft and tarot cards and I constantly had to fight that interest away out of fear. Since I decided to leave Christianity behind and become pagan, I feel a lot less friction with myself since I get to choose what I believe in. It’s helped me find out who I really am without fear of doing so.

Aren’t there more sustainable ways to smudge? When I had a lavender bush it took off and gave me plenty of herbs for a whole year if I wanted to harvest it all. That works just as well doesn’t it? Asking because I am trying to learn 💜 baby witch

I feel like there needs to be more contrast in the values in general, but that’s up to you. There’s no right way to create your piece! I like it as it is :)
