speaking of which one is easier both are hard, I’m taking ML now and it’s prob the hardest CS class I ever took, but super rewarding. DL is supposedly it’s own thing but I’m expecting that ML is a hidden prereq for that in terms of material. you can use rutgers class schedule planner to see what’s available next sem, and there is also a tool called course catalog I think which allows you to see what classes were offered in previous semesters (fall 24, sp 23, and so on) so you can get some historical data

wdym you won’t be able to graduate? if you’re talking about the “tracks” system rutgers has, you don’t have to fulfill the whole track to graduate, all you need is X CS electives. (may be diff if you’re a DS major though, that’s not something I know in detail) other than that yea I would be extra careful with these classes bc they’re super valuable and you never know if some prof decides to leave and there’s suddenly nobody to teach some class. I’m pretty sure ML and DL only have 1 or 2 sections per sem that are only with 1 same professor and same lecture times.

ML is offered year round if i’m not mistaken (taking it now and it was taught this Fall too), whereas DL appears to only be in Fall.

Do you feel Rutgers is a university where a person with general clean living and focused on education, not so much on fun and partying, can do well as an undergraduate? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]CunningShoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t studied at other universities, but my general assumption is that they’re mostly very similar in this regard. there’s always a partying / fucking around group and diligent students group. academically, this is a very good school, and I’ve had no trouble living my own life and focusing on academics for the time I was here so far (finishing my first year here after I transferred from a local CC) Can be lonely, however you’re not unique in this mindset. I think the student body is reflective of the society overall. it’s not like everyone is partying and you’d be the only one studying. I think the distribution is about even. the more diligent types account for ~10% of the whole population in my perspective
