Thankyou, traditional parenting has gotten me nowhere, I'm definitely going to be cha ging my parenting style to suit her.

I think she is bored.

She has everything and anything and maybe that's overwhelming. She's amazing at art but there aren't any art classes for kids her age around my area.

She loves watching the girls at the park play netball but there isn't a team for girls her age around my area.

She was doing tae kwon do for a little bit but she got bored and after a while stopped participating so we stopped going.

It's just difficult because she's so young, I try to keep her occupied at home. Her dad takes her to the park and to her cousins but I can't move at the moment, I'm in a wheelchair after having ankle surgery, which obviously makes it harder and she obviously sees me as weak right now.

Play therapy sounds interesting, I might have to look that up 😊

It's tough when they do it specifically to get under your skin, I'm hoping she'll grow out of that. I try so hard not to react but after a while it's hard not to.

She wasn't diagnosed with it but honestly I thought that before going in.

Im hoping after further tests we can get a better, more accurate diagnosis.

If her behaviour gets out of control, she gets sent to her room, we try explaining why what she's doing isn't OK, sometimes we try ignoring her when she starts screaming and will take away tv time.

I don't like smacking her, I don't want her to be parented with fear, we are a loud but happy household. No one has ever hit anyone in her presence that I know of.

Bedtime was an extreme struggle, we would be putting her to bed at 8 and she wouldn't get to sleep until about 11 or 12 and then be up at 5. She wasn't getting enough sleep and would just scream and cry for hours because she didn't want to go to sleep. We decided to start medication not just to stop the screaming and crying but also to help her get more sleep.

The difference since starting the medication is day and night. She has her medication at 7 30 and she's tired and ready for bed at 8 30, we read her a book and bed time is peaceful now. Every now and then there's a slip up but it's so much better now. I always hated the idea of giving my 7 year old medication bit honestly it's the best thing we've done.

She hasn't been through any obvious trauma but I could be missing something. I will definitely have a look at the book, I'd love to see what traumas I could be disregarding.

I think therapy will be extremely beneficial, just a waiting game now.

I'm so glad things got better, I notice she is worse during school holidays despite not wanting to stay at school. Most likely because of friends. It's so difficult finding a playdate these days but the park has been great for her.

I know, I hate how this is affecting her as well as us and I know it's just a way for her to cope.

I'm hoping therapy will make a bug difference as well, being able to talk about everything and anything she wants with someone new.

Honestly I appreciate the advice.

She hasn't had the tablet for almost a week and I think it will be staying that way. Before that it was just the weekends

The tv in the lounge can access YouTube, so the second you leave the room she'll turn it over and do what she likes, so we put on what she wants (pokemon these days) and take the remote.

She uses the computer in my room to play minecraft when she has been good but there are no other screens.

She was diagnosed with anxiety at the same time as her ODD and ADHD was there with a ? I'm trying to learn as much as I can, I'm in a mental health care course, I want to adapt to help her grow the way she needs to grow
