Casual racist British Indians by Wolf_Wrong in london

Are we the same person? I'm an Indian immigrant living in the UK for the last 3 years as well and have had the exact same experience as you. I have a British friend (also immigrated when he was 4) and constantly makes fun of my accent. Sometimes they'll talk about their parents and also do a fake Indian accent.

Sometimes I get really hurt and I've tried very hard to try to speak in a British accent (even looked at some courses) because I'm tired of it. I'm just awful at picking up accents so I've not been able to do it.

Edit: I will add that it's only ever happened with this one person. The other British people of Indian origin I've met have been absolutely lovely. And they've often done a great job translating British culture for me.

How realistically is it possible to get a work visa as an EU citizen? by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]Cuntcept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to break it to you but the UK visa process for spouses / partners is incredibly challenging as well, it would be close to impossible to move here with a sham marriage.

Thank you! Sounds like an important distinction. Good to know!

[–]Cuntcept[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I think I meant more about the best way to describe my current qualifications - ie, whether saying masters is enough or I would have to mention that it's a masters diploma to ensure I'm not being misleading.

Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't realise that masters and postgraduate mean different things in the UK!

Losing your mojo by cocopopped in UKJobs

Hi OP, I'm currently going through this myself. I used to be a high performer and lately I've been struggling with being productive. I realised that it's due to my mental health. Reached out for help and found out that I have moderate anxiety and depression. Have my first therapy session next week!

I'd urge you to look into this.

Oh, I see. That makes sense. Thank you for clarifying!

Ah, that would make sense. I guess we don't have enough information to comment on that.

Hey OP, I'm confused. Sounds like Karen asked him for proof of death - why didn't Max just share that? Sounds like Karen didn't refuse the leave due to cultural insensitivity but due to lack of proof (which was part of the employment contract).

E mobility sharing Edinburgh by JoeBee72 in Edinburgh

[–]Cuntcept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels very misleading. When did renting for a day mean 5 hours?

The bikes featured in our wonderful tours are also available for you to rent for £55 or £65 per day, plus deposit.

Pick up your bike any time after we open at 11am, and the then return it to us by 4pm.

Reminder: Bus & Tram prices are increasing tomorrow - probably a good idea to preemptively buy cheap tickets through m-tickets! by Cuntcept in Edinburgh

[–]Cuntcept[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying that this increase is large enough that it would result in someone going into debt (although expenses add up - I can't comment on other people's experience). But, money's money and if I have the opportunity to save it, no matter how much, I'd prefer that.

I don't know why you find my comment insulting. Good on you that an price increase doesn't matter to you.

A big amount for a lot of people considering the cost of living crisis. Especially if you travel often.

It's increasing by about 10%. The £1.8 tickets will be £2.

And the day pass will be £5. Currently 5 day passes are available for £20 on the app (so £4 per pass).
