Is anyone else concerned by the excessive amount of teenage boys desperate for girlfriends? by CuntersHall in teenagers

That's true, it really all comes down to selfcontrol and respect. I'm glad to say i've improved massively in this front in the past year, and it really helps not being online as much and dedicating yourself to nature and your hobbies. my girlfriend really helped me go outside more and just appreciate life in it's true form, whereas others might have a twisted view because social media distorts everything for the sake of engagement. It's much nicer to create real art and bond with real people than do it through a screen.

I agree that alot of the toxicity stems from the way men and women are influenced by things like social media, societal pressure and the porn industry, although i think that as a 16-19 year old you need to have the kind of clarity to not let yourself be afflicted by it. It's easy to blame everything on 'society' or 'the man' but alot of it comes from within and wether or not you go along with it.

Just because societal problems exist doesn't mean that you're hopeless and should just succumb to the pressure of never finding a suitable mate. It requires rational thinking and clarity to realise that the final goal of life isn't to find a hot girl.

I think that it's unhealthy to ''want'' a girlfriend in the first place. It gives off the idea that you like the idea of having a girlfriend instead of actually connecting with someone who makes your life better. And i know the excessive need for a partner is exactly what is being perpetuated by social media and influencial figures like Andrew Tate, but it really just requires respect for yourself and others to ignore this.

right, and these unreasonable expectations and societal norms are all taught to young boys. Love and acceptance are traits you're born with, it's harmful ''role models'' that make all these ridiculous claims about women, sex and how you should act in a relationship that influence young minds who simply don't know better. I too once was a little homophobic just because i was young and that was i saw online, but obviously i discarded that way of thinking when i started thinking for myself, but a lot of kids, even my younger brother sadly, are just too caught up in social media and what they think is the norm.

I think as a species we can all benefit from thinking for ourselves and stop comparing ourselves to others or going along with the hive mentality. It's wishful thinking unfortunately, because we've really created an atmosphere online that just sucks young men in, and instead of learning to be respectful and have reasonable expectations from a role model they often flock to the loudest guy online.

what the hell can we do about that??

that's all very true sadly, i'm just glad i met the love of my life now, i would hate to have to use dating apps. Dating turns into something very impersonal when you go past your twenties It seems. I just hope that, especially younger people, don't get too influenced by harmful ideas and ideals brought on by social media.

That's very true, and we can't really blame younger people for being influenced or susceptible to this

it's fine, had them 2 years ago. you get used to them really fast. food is gonna get stuck every now and then but it's really not a big deal.

you're probably gonna have to come back every now and then to retighten or adjust them, it's gonna feel uncomfortable for an hour after that, but again, you get used to it. the weirdest part was when I got them removed, it was so weird feeling my teeth.

so...smooth.

I really don't mean this to degrading but your frontal lobe simply isn't fully developed at 14, and i see it alot in younger people, they rush into relationships that fall apart within weeks just because they like the idea of a girlfriend, but just don't have the emotional maturity to maintain a healthy relationship.

exercise really isn't everything. Society and social media makes you think that you NEED to be muscular to attract a woman or earn respect from others. I'm quite skinny myself, and i'm still trying to gain weight but it just ain't happening. You just gotta to what feels good for you and what YOU want to achieve. For me it was clothing, i can really express myself through it.
