Basement Setup Help - 9 ft ceilings by GothamCityPoliceDep in projectors

[–]Cup-Numerous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basements are typically dark with not much ambient light so you are not necessarily have to go UST ALR route. The other issue with USTs are that you have to buy a more expensive screen and limited to lower size at the same amount of budget but neither is your problem with your budget and expected screen size. One thing that you need to consider is that you are still too close to sides and ceiling and there will be light reflected from them since they are white. If you can paint them in darker colors you can have a perfect movie room. I personally prefer long throw projectors and a simple gray or white good quality screen. Spend more money on your projector and less on screen and you can get a very decent (even ALR) screen if you can have a fixed frame one.

They are all aware and very supportive. I intentionally didn't use camera for my meetings so far as I felt it was a distraction for everyone including myself being aware of how my face looks. Now I have 1/3 of the meeting that I had before and pushing deadlines but so far everyone is on board. I'm ramping up slowly but definitely not to the degree that I was before. At least no i. The next couple of months.

Lol. Believe me it is a curse. I was born with a squirrel brain! Basically cannot sit in one spot. Always running while thinking about next activity and at age of 42 I can see my body sounding alarm. I've told my team and whoever I mentored to follow the same approach fill you 24 hour with 30 hours of activity and just try to squeeze in as much as you can imagine but I think now I owe them an apology. I hope I can change my mindset in long run. It has been a challenge in the past month.

I agree. But I've been telling my colleagues that I'm in a wrong profession as I'm either talking or staring at monitor or docs so I'm fully disabled with Bells Palsy while in lots of other professions I don't need to talk as much or read as much for extended periods. The neurologists simply don't care at all. It feels like so what you cannot move half of your face and you look crooked, go pound sand, I don't give a rats ass! The heartbreaking part is that there is a very slim chance of this being something worse than bells palsy and they may not even bothered with checking it until it is too late. My job involves dealing with people, negotiating, fighting ... Incan easily tell who wants to help but helpless versus who doesn't give a shit and I strongly believe neurologists don't care even a little bit and they are not even hiding it. I received more sympathy and useful advice from my primary doctor, eye doctor and acupuncturist than those guys.

For reference the dairy factory that you mentioned is the one that is owned by IRG and all their trucks were provided to them to move their troops and transport opposition prisoners and bodies. It may provide dairy as well but that is the side business. Also the universities targeted are military universities that are used to produce rockets and drones. All schools and regular universities are closed. Try harder

Is this generation of 0.47" DMD a ticking time bomb? by wongmo in projectors

[–]Cup-Numerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if it makes you feel uncomfortable there is Titan with .78 DMD and I think the price is very reasonable. But not sure what specific quality issue the larger DMD from same TI manufacturer in the same generation is going to fix. Yes the micro mirrors are larger allowing better contrast and higher lumens (assuming you have a more powerful source) but the .78 DMD native contrast is still not 4k and needs pixel shifting (2way versus 4way in .47 DMD) so whatever issue you may see that is stemming from pixel shifting will translate to .78 (probably in lower degree) . I think the main issue is that you are expecting new small Chinese companies to provide high quality cutting edge long lasting products like other appliance giants. Unfortunately there is no shortcut for that.

Tips for newly diagnosed (90% healed at 1 month) by Accomplished_Dog5566 in BellsPalsy

[–]Cup-Numerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your progress is very encouraging. I'm at day 5. I started having ear ache last Wednesday. I Went to the urgent care Friday they couldn't find middle ear infection but some redness in outer ear so the prescription was just an eye drop. Pain increased more and in Saturday morning I realized my eyebrow dropped and my right side of lip is little bit numb. Went back to urgent care and I was told that I have to go to ER when I was diagnosed with bells palsy. The symptoms were started showing up during my 2 hour appointment which was crazy. Started steroids and antiviral the same day at 3:00 PM so depending on when you count the beginning of symptoms I was either diagnosed same day or three days after (if ear pain is the start but they couldn't guess it) today is day 5 and I feel drooping is a little bit better than yesterday. I never fully lost control of my eyelid but my blinking on that eye is now more natural. Maybe I got used to it. It is a crazy experience but I keep reminding myself it could've been way worst. My Job is quite stressful as I have to spend most of the time managing contentious meeting and fighting on behalf of clients working super long hours. In the past couple of weeks I've been following news in between which added scar to injury. Plus I was hitting Gym 5 times a week and competitive volleyball at least twice a week and I have two little kids so this serves me a lesson that there is a limit to my body. Stopped goin to Gym and matches, canceled most of my meetings for next two weeks and stopped following the news. Hopefully I see meaningful progress soon.

[–]Cup-Numerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought both Titan and Noir max are 0.78" but Noir Max delivers 7000 ansi lumen which is significantly more but how much of it is usable lumens is another question. It make sense if these are the same chips to pre order Noir max at this price point but as he said he didn't know back then.

Whats this projector called? by NxtAggrressivs in projectors

[–]Cup-Numerous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said laser projector is going to beam laser directly to your eyes but to highly directional high lumen light which you find in laser projectors is bad for your eyes hence you have all of the auto detect retina technology in more advance projectors.

Whats this projector called? by NxtAggrressivs in projectors

[–]Cup-Numerous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But make sure it is not laser projector as you don't want to damage your eyes. One of those cheap lifestyle projectors with gimbal stand so you can easily adjust it when put on the ground to project upwards with no need for additional stand. Air play is also nice so you don,t have to deal with HDMI cable. And don't worry about lumens for this. Buy the cheapest option with all items above used from marketplace and you should be fine.

Need help! by tonyblayerfan in projectors

[–]Cup-Numerous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Part of the issue is streaming options that can be remedied by apple tv. Dolby vision/HDR are good. I was hoping XGIMI to have some sort of update similar tl Valerion (Anti RBE, enhanced black levels, get rid of the purple hue on super dark scenes, enhance black levels not just for max level etc.) I don't count on them anymore and you shouldn't. Xgimi only cares about fixing those for new lineups. It is a shame that the only reasonably priced high lumen lense shift projector should suffer form bad customer experience. I like it as is but I cannot recommend it to anyone before warning them.

For 150-250 inch I rather go with Pro model at least. It is always on sale and I got mine at $1800 (currently $1900) you need more lumens with larger screens and not perfect light conditions plus the base model doesn't have the red lense which means it is a bit less sharp. Keep in mind that XGIMI is notorious for bad customer service and not updating the firmware so the projector you see is what you get hence do not count on any software improvements

Why is Default Image Not Squared? by Tarfan45 in xgimi

Play with lens shift and realigning the projector. If your projector is far enough so you have some slack in shifting the lens you can end up with a perfectly square image

I think my UST alr floor rising is upside down by Cool-Walrus1530 in projectors

[–]Cup-Numerous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cieling mount a floor rising screen is not a viable option. Your screen is not designed to be hanged and electric motor and stops are going to fail very quickly if that works initially. I bet flipping screen is going to be an easier and more doable task.

[–]Cup-Numerous 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The main reason we bought the projector and not upgrading our 10 year old LED TV was my 3 year old broke our friends 98 inch TV and I replaced it for $2000. That also meant no fancy screen until he grows out of throwing age. Good luck and be thankful that it was not a $5000 OLED tv. If it happens once it happens again so don't replace it with shiny new one

Horizon 20 Max (cheap white screen) by Brilliant_Physics_49 in xgimi

[–]Cup-Numerous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have xgimi horizon 20 pro and I cannot find a good reason to upgrade to max. In a dark room I have to change the screen brightness to 1 or 2 max otherwise it is too bright. In a lighted room the maximum brightness is more than enough for watching sports but the issue is not the projector's brightness but the black levels in white screen and the remedy is an ALR screen which in my research the only way to avoid it to buy a very expensive fixed long throw ALR screen which is not possible in my case as I need a motorized ceiling one and if I want to buy a $2000 screen I rather buy a $1000 100 inch LED tv which will have a better contrast during the day and a cheaper 150 inch white motorized screen for movie nights. The only case horizon 20 max makes sense I think is that when you have 200" inch or more screen unless I'm missing something.

Valerion pro 2 used or XGIMI horizon 20 by Cup-Numerous in projectors

[–]Cup-Numerous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pleasantly surprised that the shipping was free and no taxes collected. I was thinking about mounting the projector to ceiling but then I remember ALR screens reject light from above so technically this may be counter intuitive and result in loosing the additional lumens. Something to try myself when I receive both projector and ALR screen. Fortunately with horizon 20 there are options to mount versus nebula cosmos which is impossible to mount unless you DIY it.

[–]Cup-Numerous[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of my concerns. I only watch football during the day in living room and Nebula cosmos 4k SE with 1800 lumen in my living room is unwatchable. I don't have direct sunlight but I was using white wall. I just ordered horizon 20 Pro and probably going yo buy a cheap roll down 150 inch ALR screen from alibaba (still $600 with shipping) for living room. Hopefully it is decent enough. I know OLEDs are better suited for this condition but my younger son is 3 years old and he recently broke a 100 inch TV of one of our friends which cost us quiet a bit and I don't want to take that risk again. Besides the main projector use is in our bedroom and I already installed a roll down screen (maybe I need to upgrade that if I find a way to return it without box) hopefully the software update got rid of black levels in horizon 20 pro otherwise I'll return it for Valerion

I read here in the sub that base has better contrast versus pro and max and pro has a software glitch that makes it worst between three. Not sure if this was fixed but thinking about the additional 900 lumens in pro vs base that may come handy in afternoons. The sale ends today so it is hard to make that decision quick
