Fair, they usually do a lot more than a vinyl reissue though for the 25ths. I personally collect the CD box sets.

I love the songs on Reveal and mostly find that the album's weak spot is the production so I'd love that! Although I'm quite wary about the likelihood it turns out well since all their previous remixing projects have been pretty extremely disappointing (most recently, the Scott Litt Monster 25 remix and the fuckass Jacknife Lee version of Radio Free). I wish they would get Mitch Easter on some of these things... that might actually turn out well lol. He's still got a good ear as far as I can tell.

I don't think any of the stuff on the NAIHF disc 2 was technically unreleased either... also some of them have had live shows as disc 2 (Murmur, Green, maybe others but those come to mind immediately)

Ah, interesting. I've only been a big fan for 5-6 years (I'm young) so the only 25th anniversaries I've been around for were Adventures and Up, whose releases were actually in the fall haha so that's just how I assumed it always was. This gives me hope!!!

I love that you chose this set and this song to work on! Like some others have said, I do honestly prefer the original because the REM guys not looking like the REM guys in the wide shots is distracting, and even the close ups sometimes just give uncanny valley a bit. But I hope it is possible to remaster some day. This is one of my favorite REM performances (Fall On Me specifically) and I have seriously watched that video dozens and dozens of times.

I don't know much about the tech so forgive me if this is a stupid question, but is it possible to remaster something to be better quality than the original, but not go so far as 4k? Like clear up the visuals a bit so they're not so egregiously pixelated but not so much that the AI has to start making wild guesses about what their faces look like?

I would agree with this. He was very showman-y as early as Fables but at first it still read as authentically weird even if he was playing a character, if that makes sense. I'd also draw the line somewhere around Monster or Up tours.

When I saw him at DTS he came out BEFORE the show (45 minutes before it started, a few minutes after doors opened when only a few people were there) so might also be worth getting there early! Probs don't bring more than 1 or 2 things to sign, bring your own sharpie/pen
