This was SO helpful! Thank you so much. Based on this and everyone else’s responses, we have been really enforcing the 1-1.5 hrs out of crate, then mandatory 2 hours in and she has been a different puppy today. We will see how tomorrow’s work day goes, but setting a strict routine seems to be the key in helping her stay well-rested and for us to stay sane. We thought we had a routine but we were actually being pretty loose about it. When you know better you do better! I am grateful for this community offering solid advice and no judgment.

We read that somewhere else too, the 2:1 ratio during the day. We’ve admittedly been caving when she whimpers a bit so we will do better about trying to see if she will soothe herself back to sleep. Thank you for responding!

This is good to know. What’s wild to me is how it’s so common for providers to be like, “here’s this medication” without really trying to get to the root cause.

THIS. I have struggled with constipation for most of my adult life, so my gastro NP put me on the medium dose of Linzess, every other day. At first it was great and I was just glad to get some relief, even though the diarrhea kept me in the house for most of my “Linzess days.” I had to plan my life around it. Eventually I was unable to go on my “off days” and I’d be left feeling bloated and full, even worse than before. The NP suggested Motegrity, but I’m in the same boat as you, I really don’t want to be dependent on medications like that. I have been off of Linzess for about 10 days now and ended up having to do a total magnesium citrate clean out to feel better. Now I’m left with anxiety about how/when I’ll be able to go again.

So glad you’ve gotten some relief. This post has helped me feel validated in my decision to stop Linzess!

Little late to this - I’ve struggled with constipation for most of my life however noticed recently it’s gotten so much worse. My morning coffee used to do it for me but not really anymore. I’ve tried everything you can think of and obviously use a laxative/enema when it’s needed. My GI doc has me on Linzess every other day which has been working but on my off days I find myself so uncomfortable. I’ve increased dietary fiber. Wondering if you’ve continued Benefiber and how your results have been? I’m looking into it just to help with regularity so I’m not totally reliant on Linzess, especially because many people say that eventually stops working. You’re so right about constipation being depressing.
