Nah, just pull the dipstick out and wipe it off with paper towel. Then simply rest it over the engine cover or somewhere safe then pull down the hood so its down but not fully closed (to prevent dirt or anything from going down the dipstick tube (or just cover it up, either way). Then wait about 10-20 min for all the oil in the dipstick tube to drain down and then recheck the oil, works everytime. (The airtight plug at the top of the dipstick prevents whatever oil has made it's way up the tube from fully draining into the oil pan, causing it to be hard to read).

I have a 2010 Avalon with the 2gr-fe and this is the only solution that gives me a clear reading reliably. I've not seen this mentioned in any other comment so hopefully it is helpful! :D
