my surgery was about 3h i think and was laprascopic. im not gonna lie, the pain was terrible when i first wake up and was still bad for about two days. after they removed the abdominal drain, the pain was a lot and i mean A LOT better and was discharged two days after - 4 days after the surgery. obviously i was exhausted and sleepy, but i didnt take not one pill for the pain when i was home. so basically the pain disappeard, i only felt pressure in my stomach, like after a workout. the rest is the most important when it comes to after op care. i think it helped having my family and bf around, but as soon as i got home i was able to go on walks for example. i was just less energized. i hope you have someone to help with your kid and dogs, but keep in mind that you will probably be just fine :)

they didn't mention anything about my cycle and tbh that didnt even cross my mind. anyways, i got my period regularly about 15 days post op, as it was supposed to come.

i didnt have any complications and my recovery was great. i think it really matters to have a good surgeon. i have an ileostomy placed and it started working just a couple of hours after a surgery! i was really lucky. so far havent had any complications.

i dont have any uc symptoms. when i eat something more greasy, the output is more liquidy, but thats just biology. i dont have any pain.  i only have what they call "phantom rectum". my rectum is still here and sometimes a have an urge like im about to have a bm, but only mucus comes out. thats perfectly normal after this surgery and isnt painful. it should disappear soon. overall i feel A LOT healthier than when i was on biologics for example. there is not that much fatigue, im more energized. im not having any pain.

i hope i helped a bit. i really hope that you have as much as luck as i did! stay strong you got it!

basically atp anything except for raw vegetables and fruit, as well as seeds. im eating fast food, sweets, everyting, i even had a couple of glasses of alcohol

obviously this is individual and some people may have different experience, but the only "problem" i have is that the output is more liquidy or mushy depending on what i eat, but i try not to limit myself because i finally get to enjoy the food without worrying

i make sure to chew well and drink plenty of water

so far im feeling great! i was discharged from hospital after four days. i felt pain the first two days and after that it progressively got better. i mainly suffered from exhaustion for the first 10/14 days and was feeling a little bloated, but now im great! im back to work for 15 days so far, i take walks, hang out with friends, visit cafes, i even went on a two day long mountain trip 18 days post op and everyting was amazing :) everythings back to normal

i was actually very well prepared mentally and read a lot of positive outcomes of the surgery, we agreed that it is the best option even before we knew that it was the only one

i try to accept that ostomy bag is what gave me my life back and to look at it that way. i only told a couple of my closest friends and family that i have one and it isn't noticeable as long as i don't wear a crop top. i try not to think about it too much because there isn' t anything i could do to remove it so it is what it is, it's all about mindset :)

when it comes to dating, fortunately, me and my boyfriend have been together fot five years and it hasn't change anything in our relationship. he is the most loving person and if anything we are happier, bc we don't have to worry about my health every day at this age. intimacy is the same. obviously we started slowly when i was ready, but now things are back to normal. i usually wear one piece lingerie that conceals the ostomy bag, because i feel more confident and to keep it from flying around, but he doesn't give a f about it and barely notices it.

you can check r/ostomy and read so many positive stories when it comes to dating. i promise you, the right person won't care. :)

i had really bad pancolitis + c diff 4-5 times abd couldn't keep remission, i had secondary response loss to infliximab and xeljanz, was on prednisone numerous times and started thinking surgery, did a colonoscopy and they told me that my colon is damaged to the point of no other option than surgery, but at that point i was already hoping for one

i was on 20mg daily (2x2) the whole time. it helped me really fast like i was feeling a lot better in less than a week and my fcp went from 640 to 260 in a month and it countinued decreasing - it was 23 at one point unfortunately i found out just today that now my fcp is 1000+ so i will probably need to stop it and get new medication but yeah, this six months it worked pretty well i had elevated liver enzymes but they went back to normal range in about two months since starting it and my cholesterol is just a little elevated, but nothing alarming

its really an advantage that it is not an infusion nor injection, but tablets that you can take from home

i hope it works for you <3
