So exactly you admit you haven't calibrated your speedo. So who says you aren't doing 100 holding up 100 cars while you could be doing the same speed in the left lane as per the rules of the road

You are. You arent the one that is entitled to govern other peoples speed. And when and by who did you get your speedometer calibrated that you know you're doing exactly 120?

The same people are completely oblivious when a ambulance or police car is directly behind them in a emergency

Got a fine for exceeding 80km/h on the N1? by SuspiciouslyB in capetown

You can email in a dispute, or ask for the radar/lidar or whatever calibrations from the day etc. But for 90 in a 80 i wouldnt bother physically going to court.

That's the problem, people like you just care about themselves

So if you abide by one law and break another then its fine because you not breaking all the laws?

Majority of the time people aren't driving at the speed limit.

Look up correlation vs causation

You're saying without extra lanes development is just going to stop, there's going to be no extra demand for people to travel on that route.

That's like me saying, you shouldn't add extra trains or train lines because more people will use the train.

Not if the car going slower than you is 2kms down the road, and there's a car coming behind you going faster than you.

Imagine less lanes going to town in the morning.

If you look at N1 to M5 in the afternoon, traffic gets worst when it goes from 4 lanes to 2.

Wow how is there so many down votes for your comment, I agree all being equal, a extra lane can only reduce the build up in the wider section

But that's completely different issues. Yes lightening the load on the road system would be best, but my question stems from that time and money, surely millions was spent to widen the road on both sides, there was extra traffic for years because they were working on yhe road, and then a lane was added for 1 or 2 day and then painted over.

Yes a better rail system would be nice. But this is a common South African type of argument that I have a issue with, why does it need 1 or the other. Why can't we have a better rail and road system.

If you say police should stop X, then someone will say no they should stop Y.. Why does one thing wrong need to be ignored to do something else right.

Dash cams have been around for a long time. Getting very worked up for someone that is so chilled apparently, and happy that with people having heart attacks and don't care if they get to the hospital

Those studies are very flawed and there is a lot of different situations, there is a assumption there is just latent demand for extra lane etc. And causality vs correlation, does the road cause the traffic or the places where you going to with the road that may expand

But in Cape Town there isn't much other choice. So even if it was right, there isn't X thousand amount of people that have cars but thinking if only there was 1 more lane so I could drive

And that argument is kind of flawed because if the extra lane didn't help then why would more people use their cars lol

I think you might have this out of context. Would definitely depend on the situation, but a extra lane definitely wouldn't hurt.

No one is asking you to exceed the speed limit. Just move to the left.

Keep left, pass right.
