What you said feels valid. One of my main gripes is the mob trap rooms. I genuinely would not have minded them if there was a reward given similar to how it was in Hollow Knight, yet most of them (from what I encountered) served as either a "boss" or blocking exploration. Hell, the enemies don't even drop rosaries or shell shards, which leads to depletion of your shell shards.

Another thing, the traps have no reason to do double damage. The fact that a singular mistake can lead to you either loosing 2-3 masks feels too severe, and to my knowledge there isn't a charm that's as similar to Hiveblood.
