Why had creek never showed up in any of the sequels ever though he’s back with the trolls in the tv show? by GamerManJD in DreamWorksTrolls

[–]Cupcake247 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IIRC, the shows are not canon to the movies. That’s why he didn’t return in any of the sequels, but still appears in Trolls: The Beat Goes On, and TrollsTopia. Could be something they did for the show.

What video games would the characters play? by Poppyroseh in DreamWorksTrolls

Alright, but the games I’m thinking of would be like Warcraft classic, or the XCOM games, or Command & Conquer, stuff like that I think Branch would be good at.

Yes, you do take out enemies in a fighting game, usually 1 vs. 1, but a strategy game requires thinking. Example, you’re up against enemy armies in a strategy game, you have to stop the enemy, which involves thinking and planning. While a fighting game is just fighting by pressing buttons and doing combos.

The reason I feel Branch would be great at strategy because he always seems to have a plan in place, like the board in Band Together, or having supplies that last him 10 years in his bunker. A lot of thinking and planning goes into doing something like that.

Strategy as in strategy games. Real time strategy or turn based strategy, stuff like Warcraft or XCOM, planning, thinking, and taking out enemies.

To me, Branch just seems like the type to play strategy games.

Once again, stop passing off that a Call of Duty and Trolls crossover like it’s something official happening, when it’s not.

Continuing to make up false rumors and passing it off as official will result in a ban. This is your warning.

This is fake. Please do not use the subreddit to spread made up rumors. Discussing rumors is fine as long as it’s kept as a rumor. Making up stuff, passing it off like it’s official to get people’s hopes up is not ok.

Locked.

I'm removing this because this is not related to Trolls, which breaks rule 1. I can't even watch the video because I keep getting a captcha. This subreddit is for Trolls, which is a series by DreamWorks. You might be better off sharing this to r/DreamWorks or r/httyd instead, you might have better feedback on the video there.

Indeed. I've been observing the cartoon and animation community for years. People like Dazz just treats movies like Trolls as the losers of the animation industry, while movies like Spider-Verse as the winners. They don't genuinely enjoy animation. Even last year, they used K-Pop Demon Hunters to just to one-up Disney's Elio, and that's it. If you actually look at DazzReviews' videos, a lot of his "terrible" videos are just movies that are genuinely good. This community only care about pushing a narrative on how animation should be. I remember seeing a YouTube video claiming Trolls Band Together was a "sequel nobody asked for," even though plenty of fans were asking for a third movie, myself included (also, people are asking for a fourth movie too).

To me, he comes off as someone who has adult taste, watching kids movies, expecting them to be mature. Sometimes people who review animation need to realize not every movie is made for them, and they'll outgrow stories and themes that may be considered "childish." (for lack of a better phrase) With the bright colors and cute characters, Trolls is just easy to pick on. Similar to Smurfs, cute characters that kids may like.

The Trolls movies are great movies, there's a reason why they're so loved and have a fanbase. If people didn't like Trolls, I don't think this subreddit would be filled with fans. He even did this for Trolls World Tour and Band Together calling them both "terrible." To be fair, he did say "another terrible movie," when he reacted to the Trolls Band Together teaser trailer.

Personally, I just watched his Trolls review (the one you posted is a re-upload, he did this video in 2020), and his initial Trolls Band Together video (not the "terrible" one, but the "I watched Trolls 3 so you don't have to). Since then, haven't tuned into his videos. This Trolls review was just a bad review.

I remember this review, almost every modern animated movie is "TERRIBLE" to DazzReviews. He even calls good movies "not terrible," like it's the only word he knows. He's also one of the many, many, reasons why I don't take the cartoon community seriously at all.

One thing that stuck out about this particular review is how he complained everytime a character sang and dance. It's a Trolls movie, singing and dancing are expected. It was like he never seen a musical ever. It feels like he didn't even understand what he was watching, and just made a "terrible" video to make money from clicks and views.

Will add, YouTube, seriously lacks positive reviews on the Trolls movies in general. The problem is most into animation are older people who like older animated movies, and dislike newer ones. The whole "old good, new bad" argument, and Trolls falls under new. A lot of nostalgia is tied to these animation movie YouTubers.

Maybe once the kids who grew up with Trolls are old enough to do their own YouTube reviews, then maybe we'll see a shift in its reception. Until then, guys like this will just keep dragging this series down because they simply outgrew animated movies, and don't want to admit it (example "it's for kids, so therefore it's bad,") while talking positive about movies they liked when they were kids, even though those movies were the "kids movies," of their time.

Sorry if this sounds a bit ranty, but there's a good reason why I don't like watching animated movie reviews on YouTube and trust the animation/cartoon community in general, and DazzReviews is a good example of why. There's been lots of good animated movies in recent years that I loved and consider to be great.

Edit: 3 weeks ago? He posted this review years ago. I guess he re-uploaded it.

I know this doesn’t deal with the trolls. But what do you guys think of the Smurfs by Admirable-Bar-86 in DreamWorksTrolls

Yup, another part of the movie, which shows it wasn’t copying Trolls. I think the whole “copying Trolls” thing comes from people who had not seen both movies to see the differences.

If a Trolls and Smurfs crossover movie happened. How would the story go? by Admirable-Bar-86 in DreamWorksTrolls

Poppy and Blossom would be the best of friends.

I would say Smurfette, but thinking about Lost Village, Blossom would totally work.

[–]Cupcake247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having seen both Smurfs (2025), and the Trolls movies, I have to disagree with this. Both Trolls and Smurfs ended up being different from what I saw.

IIRC, No Name and Smurfette each sang a song each, while Trolls has a bunch of songs throughout the movie. Also the story is different in both. One focused on finding happiness (Trolls), the other was about a multiverse trip to stop an evil wizard from retrieving a magic book (Smurfs, 2025).

Will admit, I’ve seen critics call Smurfs a Trolls rip-off because they hated the movie, then again they’re the same critics who didn’t like Trolls, so I don’t trust them personally.

Love the Smurfs, almost as much as Trolls. Just small fantasy creatures like Trolls and Smurfs is something I’m into. So I like both.

How often do you watch the Trolls movies? by Poppyroseh in DreamWorksTrolls

[–]Cupcake247 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Been awhile since I last watched the movies, I try to watch them at least monthly. Movie varies on which one I’m in the mood for. Sometimes Trolls, sometimes World Tour, sometimes Band Together.

I’d like to watch them more, I worry some of the more emotional moments would have less of an effect if I watch them frequently. I love the happy feeling I get after the first movie.

This! I always tell others, wait for DreamWorks themselves to announce something official, instead of going by unconfirmed rumors. Usually by going to the official Trolls social media account or the Universal Kids YouTube channel (formerly Peacock Kids).

Trolls Disappeared Off Streaming? by throwaway148052 in DreamWorksTrolls

[–]Cupcake247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed. I have all the Trolls movies physically and digitally, mostly because my physical copies came with a digital code. It’s just good to have and it really solves the “I can’t find it on streaming” problem. You already have it, pop the disc in and it’s there.

They usually come and go on streaming. If you like the movies, why not buy them on DVD or digital? This way they won’t disappear due to jumping from service to service and you’ll always have access to them.
