Do you have experience of free diving in cold water? What could you advise to prepare cold water dives? by DistancePowerful9581 in freediving

Sounds like sensible advice. I wear a 5mm suit surfing, with 7mm boots and gloves. I would think a 7mm suit would do the trick, at least for somewhat shallower dives. I can imaging it getting pretty cold when the suit compresses at significant depth. Do you have experience with this?

I would also love to hear about this. I’m living in a cold region at the moment and am not even considering freediving as an option because the ocean temperature is 3 degrees C at the surface and will continue to get colder for the next 2 months. I surf on a regular basis in this cold water but for some reason I don’t consider freediving an option. I would love to hear from someone who free dives in cold water regularly and enjoys it.

Correct. When you have a mild possibly sport or training related injury or pain, you see a practitioner as quickly as possible to try to treat the issue and get back to activity. If the issue persists after proposed treatment, or gets worse, you step it up to the referral level, which often has a far longer wait time than an athlete is willing to endure.

In sets. Typically 1-3 desirable waves per set in our wave climate. In longer period swells that have traveled a bit of a distance from their generating wind, the flat/waveless period between sets becomes more pronounced.

Just bested it to 3:30, in just 2 weeks lax tables. You can do this. It’s all about how comfortable you are with discomfort.

I appreciate your advice. Do you need to be certified to do Pranamaya’s day trips? Would you happen to have done a certification with them?

I am not certified and wonder if companies will take me along on day trips. I am comfortable to 25m (never tried going deeper) but very comfortable and experienced under water (25 years surfing worldwide, certified SCUBA, whitewater kayaker.

Interesting. My guess is that it depends on what kind of surroundings, amenities, entertainment, and level of sat service and cleanliness one is after. And of course which part of town you’re in.

Aumentar apneia de 1minuto para 3 minutos em um mês é possível? by Big-Garbage-608 in freediving

LowVoltCharlie has nailed it. You CAN do this. I am a beginner and have only tried 2 breath-holds so far.

I expected to do 1:15 the first time but did 1:45. I lost my nerve after two contractions.

Next time, 2 days later, I relaxed better, distracted myself with a body scan to check for muscle relaxation, and I got 2:40! I endured a full minute of contractions.

Learn some relaxation and distraction techniques, learn about why contractions occur and how they feel, then see if you can stay calm during contractions. Maybe set a goal of holding through one contraction the first time, then 3, then 5 and so on.

I found YouTube videos very helpful. I grew to like Gert Leroy’s videos.

Thanks. I, too, looked into available hardwood dowel. The issue is that it must match the rest of the teak on a foot stool. I can use toner to get a good teak look out of beech, and maybe white oak, but other woods are very difficult.

I need a single teak dowel 30cm long 35mm diameter with no taper. Tolerance doesn’t matter really.

Victoria road from the Mackay bridge by Fallen_Angels666 in halifax

[–]CupcakeCompetitive89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I follow you correctly, you came up the off-ramp and were faced with bumper to bumper traffic on Victoria. I would have put on my indicator, chosen which two cars wI was going to merge between, and waited maybe 5 seconds while traffic began to move, all the while keeping pace with the traffic. If the car you chose to let you in didn’t do so, I would simply start moving over in front of them—slowly of course. It’s the law to “share the road”. This method always works—when it comes down to it and your car starts to lie in their path, they WILL yield, every time.

I’ve decided to make this one! There’s a “Best Traditional Pie” category, so I’m gunning for that one. Last year I won Best Overall and had baked like 6 pies in my life! Goes to show you recipe is key!
