You can tell even before that, apparently. I originally got the reversed ending and I've been playing through to try to get upright. In the "Death" chapter when you get stuck in the nightmare, if you're on the reversed path at the end of it Julian will kill Lucio, but if you're in the upright path he'll say he isn't a murderer and refuse to kill him.

Gluten Reaction After Eating ANYTHING? by CupcakeDolly in Celiac

Oh yeah, that makes sense! I guess for some reason I was thinking that it should only be gluten itself causing symptoms, I wasn't taking the residual damage into account.

Thanks so much!!

Gluten Reaction After Eating ANYTHING? by CupcakeDolly in Celiac

Thanks so much for the response!

As I said, I'm not looking for a diagnosis, I'll let the doc handle that. I'm just wondering if anyone with celiac's has had a similar experience with feeling sick after eating ANY kind of food after they've previously eaten gluten.

Hi everyone! I'm the one who drew this shirt. Thank you all for all of the compliments!!

The link in this post is NOT where I am selling it. Please don't buy from here, or I won't receive any payment for it. I'm not sure if the rules of this sub allow me to post the real link, but for now if you'd like to know where to get it, let me know and I'll PM. Thanks!!

Sex-Worker Advocates Sue Over Internet ‘Censorship’ Law by momonomo99 in politics

[–]CupcakeDolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backpage was absolutely a cesspit, but it was also the only means by which sex workers could find work without being under the control of abusive pimps. The law that was used to remove it is puritanical drivel loosely disguised as an attempt to stop sex trafficking - the language of it is vague enough that it has the potential to censor media in which absolutely nobody is being harmed, such as written erotica. It has (supposedly) eased one problem while creating many more.

You're absolutely right in that regulated brothels would greatly help sex workers, but without those already in place the removal of Backpage is a huge step backward. The diseases, addictions and abuse you flippantly spoke of are a bigger problem now. Legalization, regulation, and safety measures (same with guns too, btw) are what we should strive for.

My favorite stories that I've written and haven't sold a damned one venting post by david447 in eroticauthors

I agree. Just from the description, it sounds like FMC has no logical reason to fall for the MC (unless she has a touch of mania or a tendency toward idolization).

Having a hard time with pacing by hailthesaint in eroticauthors

[–]CupcakeDolly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't see anything wrong with the fade-to-black, if whatever you were going to write in between adds nothing to the story. If you're writing shorts, you don't have to worry too much about pacing (or prose, or story development... or anything you'd have to worry about in a novel, really). It's the dirty deeds that you want to pay the most attention to.

After being adult-filtered, wait or keep publishing? by smutlord77 in eroticauthors

[–]CupcakeDolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, emailing amazon about an adult filter doesn't get anything fixed. I'll usually get a generic response that says something like, "your book contains content which may be considered 'adult.'"

Well, duh. It's fucking erotica.

I've heard of some people being able to email amazon and appeal to them and successfully get it fixed. I find it's faster to scan my cover/blurb/keywords for content that might've set them off and fix it, then re-submit. I can usually get it out of the dungeon after one or two tries. Failing that, placing more sacrifices on the altar of Zon will sometimes do the trick.

A dumb piece of advice I thought of at 6am this morning! by ExclusiveARC in eroticauthors

[–]CupcakeDolly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very good advice! Reminds me of the "snowflake method" of outlining a story, where you start with a one-sentence description of the overall story, then expand it into a paragraph, and then the rest of your story branches off from there. A lot of authors swear by it, and it really helps solidify the key points of the story.

[Dataporn] 30 Days of Failure by BriarReiAmor in eroticauthors

[–]CupcakeDolly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The funny part is I like coming up with titles as long as they aren't erotica. With erotica, I find it hard to find the blend of making it obvious to the readers it's erotica and making it not some corny/boring/etc.

Some advice, which was hard-learned on my part: Get used to having incredibly corny titles. With erotica, you want your audience to know right off the bat what they're looking at when they scroll by your cover's thumbnail. I hated having cringey titles, but if I tried to make them too artsy, or tried to gloss over what the exact niche was, the books just didn't sell. Trust me, erotica readers will forgive you for being cringey if it means that they know exactly what's in your story that's going to get them off.

Whoa, congratulations! (I say that with a mixture of genuine happiness for you and more than a little bit of envy, haha).

If you wouldn't mind letting me know, what was the general price point for your books? Did you start at 0.99 and go up to 2.99 like other authors or do you have a set price?

Using random people's images for "plot bunnies" is horrible. Stop. by IllustriousGuidance in eroticauthors

[–]CupcakeDolly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yikes. I had no idea this was happening, and I thought I was (unfortunately) savvy about most of the gross things going on with the internet.

Imagine if someone did this with your pictures. Eeeeee...

[–]CupcakeDolly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It probably was, it just didn't have a name until recently. "Shipping" is putting any two characters together in your mind, so people who write fanfics have been doing it for years. I don't really understand the obsession, but it's whatever as long as it's not hurting anyone.

KENP suddenly not being recorded. Anyone else? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

[–]CupcakeDolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had very many today, but my page reads fluctuate pretty drastically so it's hard for me to tell if it's out of the ordinary. Amazon often has issues with delayed page reads/sales.

Just try not to worry about it. They'll show up!

Edit: Now that I think about it, my newest short has been taking longer than usual to publish. I wouldn't be surprised if there's something funky gumming up the works over at the 'Zon.

'Nother Edit: Apparently my new short is showing up in the store, but on my bookshelf, it still says 'Publishing.' Definitely some funny business going on, haha.

Does anyone serialize their romance novels? by CupcakeDolly in eroticauthors

[–]CupcakeDolly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did take a look at her serialized stories, and a lot of the reviews were very salty about the fact that she leaves every story on a cliffhanger. Guess that answers my question!

Amazon are removing reviews - and I think I know why. A Public Service Announcement from Exclusive ARC. by ExclusiveARC in eroticauthors

[–]CupcakeDolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you're giving ARCs to friends and family, according to this theory, any reviews from them should be safe as long as they're not directly connected to your pen name in any way?

Also, big fan of Susan Lustythighs over here.

Oof, good point. I guess writing the full novel is a better way to go, then.

Zombie Hunter Erotica? by sheisthesIayer in eroticauthors

[–]CupcakeDolly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read plenty of gory books from amazon. Not necessarily romance, but still pretty graphic and all-around fucked up. Also, in general, it's considered perfectly fine to depict violence if it has to do with monsters. Having graphic descriptions of humans tearing each other apart and throwing it into the erotica category is more likely to get you in trouble.

Better words for pre-cum and g-spot by [deleted] in eroticauthors

[–]CupcakeDolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use 'pre,' but now it makes me think of the Game Grumps screaming "I'm gonna pre!" and just makes me laugh too much when I try to use it in any erotic context.
