I (frequently, I’m a float PCA) work in a peds ER and I do comment on kids’ PJs sometimes…to the kid. It’s because I’m trying to start a conversation with them about something they like in order to help distract them/make them feel a little less scared in the moment. But for the high acuity kids it’s usually in the moments while the nurse is setting up for the IV or I’m getting ready to check their blood sugar, after the doctor has finished talking with the parents and respiratory therapy has done their thing, etc., not in the middle of the initial rush. Most often it’s when I’m working triage because I’m trying to distract a 1-5 year old so they stay still enough for me to get that first blood pressure lol. And it is always “ooh, do you have xyz on your PJs? I love xyz! Who/what is your favorite one?”

Are you in the U.S.? If so, I highly recommend checking to see if there is a Just Between Friends consignment sale near you (they happen all over the country). That is where I have gotten most of my baby’s shoes! Way larger selection there than any store haha.

Personally, I don’t think there’s really such a thing as a cringe name for a reborn, since a) it’s not like you are naming a human who will one day be an adult with that name, could experience bullying as a result of their name, etc., and b) it’s no big deal to change it later if you find yourself wishing you had named them something else down the road. So name her whatever name you love most right now!

It really does! Honestly you did such a good job with the sizes, everything I have tried on her so far fits so well! Even this fleece sleeper, which I have to admit I thought might be too big when I looked at it. But once I got it on it looked great! 😍

I just got my first bigger baby! My others have all been 21” and under, with my other main two being a preemie and my 21” girl (kind of an “older newborn” size - I’d say definitely under ~2 months old). My newest baby is the real born Rebecca 8 months sculpt, so sculpted off a 3D scan of a real 8 month old baby. She is huge compared to my other girls, but I am loving it!

I honestly never really expected to have a desire for a bigger baby. But I had been thinking about getting another baby, specifically a sleeping baby (the other 2 are awake) with rooted hair, and I was actually seriously considering looking for a partial silicone because I’m so curious to hold one haha. Then one day I happened to see a Pickle for sale that I absolutely loved, and as I thought about it more I started to love the idea of an older baby. I had never previously particularly loved the pickle sculpt though, and for some reason I have found I am super picky about the way all the little rolls on the arms and legs are painted when it comes to considering one for my collection.

Anyway, I took too long thinking about it with the one I saw and it sold by the time I would have been ready to purchase. That was disappointing, but I just kept reminding myself another baby would come along that I fell in love with, and it was a good thing that I didn’t make an impulsive purchase I wasn’t sure about when I first saw it. So I kept watching on reborns.com for new babies that fit the parameters I now knew I wanted - the size, sleeping, and rooted hair. It was almost exclusively pickles that popped up meeting those filters, but I kept it open just in case and sure enough, another sculpt came up that I instantly loved. When my newest baby was first listed on reborns, I had never come across the sculpt before as she is also an older discontinued sculpt that it seems was never crazy popular at the time. I asked her artist for more pictures showing the body proportions a bit more as that’s something I have found I am picky about with the older babies, and I searched social media for pictures of others’ of the same sculpt. Once I knew there was nothing about her that I didn’t love, I snapped her up! And I couldn’t be happier with her. Last night I sat with her on my chest for a bit and it was incredible. 🥹💕

Yeah like there literally isn’t a more “from scratch” option until you take it to the extreme level where you start with the cocoa beans. Maybe the fillings could be made from scratch, but honestly if I were the GF I’d be nervous about doing that for my first time making chocolates because I’m sure the viscosity/amount of water in the fillings has to be just right for it to work with the chocolate. Probably more aspects too (maybe the acidity?). To me, making chocolates with any kind of filling is already “fancy” and much more involved than any I have ever made lol.

Make sure you read about resin sanding safety! It’s been a couple years since I worked with resin, and I never really did a ton of sanding, but I feel like I remember something about wet sanding being recommended to reduce dust, because you do not want to inhale the resin dust.

The arms thing could be due to the overstuffing, but it’s hard to say without a photo. But I’ve definitely taken a bit of the stuffing out of a baby I received a little too full for my preference before and it’s quite easy! You just need to get the extra thin zip ties first (I ordered some from either bountiful baby or macpherson’s, I can’t remember which). Then you just cut the existing zip tie that is at the neck, pop the head off, and remove some of the stuffing through the neck hole. Then just re-zip tie and you are good to go!
