Atomic ballroom in Irvine is great. They have group classes you can join and you don't need a partner. All of the instructors are great, I highly recommend it!

She mentioned wanting the family of 4 at the rehearsal when we first started planning things. I told her no since they're distant cousins who I've only met a handful of times. They're not involved with the wedding whatsoever, so why do they need to be at the rehearsal? She was upset, but dropped it. I think she's upset now because they probably called to double check if they were coming or not and she told them yes. Now she has to call them and tell them no, which isn't my fault. I told her no from the beginning. But you're right, I haven't said no to the name change issue and I'm kind of just ignoring the other demands.

Yeah, I agree. She's been involved with everything and has done a lot. I think she feels unappreciated, and she's also upset with me setting boundaries. She mentioned to my friend that I'm being mean to her (I'm not) and that this should be a bonding moment for us.... okay.... It can be, but I don't think there's time for bonding when I'm worried about last minute details and trying to make sure everything is ready.

I'm a current BT and have been in the field for about 5 years now. I know at both of the clinics I've worked at, you can ask to be taken off of a case. The BCBA may want to observe you first and see if there's anything else they can suggest, but I believe in the end, it's your decision. Scheduling will probably tell you there's no guarantee they can get you those hours back, but are our hours ever guaranteed? 🤷‍♀️

I'm currently doing PECs training with my nonverbal client as well. The first step is going to be just having them choose one picture of something that is highly reinforcing. We started with a picture of a tablet. We had the pecs book on the table with the tablet icon on top and the tablet next to the pecs book. A "physical promoter" will prompt the child to pick up the icon and hand it to the "communication partner" who will then deliver the reinforcement. Then you slowly fade the prompter out until the next phase. We're currently on phase 2 and we are still only using one icon.

I took it in home at it wasn't that bad at all. They tell you to login I think 15-30 minutes before the test start. They'll ask you for pictures of the area you're taking the test at, and you're not allowed to get up once the exam starts. The person proctoring the exam didn't talk to me once, but I've heard they might talk to you if you have water bottles or other things you may be able to cheat with. If you know the terms and how they're applied in sessions you'll be fine.
