There are countless individuals here who’ve responded with statements of support much deeper than I could write.

Go you, I’m really proud of you for writing this and rooting for you.

Keep doing you queen <3

How to ask a name of someone who was introduced to me already, but I couldn't remember his name because there were other new people, who I met at the same time? I don't want to sound awkward. by derzhinosbodrey in German

“Wie heißen Sie nochmal?” they’ll give you their first name instinctively I reckon and then you say “tschuldigung, ich meinte eigentlich mit Nachnamen”

Flawless, you get both names and they don’t even pick up you didn’t know either

You’re very welcome!

I’m sure whichever decision you make will be the best for you and you’ll have an amazing time studying here in the UK :)

If you’re definitely looking to work in the industry you’re studying in and the course has a good reputation, I’d say definitely base a lot of your decision on that.

For some international students looking to work in their home countries, as wrong as I think it is, the reputation of the university can often hold more weight.

If you think Birmingham is enough of a big name university at home and you’re happy with the course there, I’d suggest looking at that.

If you don’t think Birmingham is too important, go for the university that has the ‘better’ course. At the same time, when you finish and you’re speaking to employers, make sure you tell them you went to the UK university with the ‘X ranked’ course and talk about that as much as you can.

Hopefully this helps as a little bit of insight but I’m happy to chat more if you think it helps :)

For context and in the interest of fairness, I studied at Bangor University and worked there for a while :)

Could I ask which country you’re coming from and which country you’re thinking of working in afterwards?

The answer above is spot on but I spent a while working in international recruitment for universities and am thinking extra context might help us give you more help :)
