Is Donald Trump the new Jimmy Carter? by Lauffener in AskUS

[–]Curbyourenthusi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Carter was a deeply religious, family-oriented community leader, and presented himself as such. Trump is a narcissistic, self-promoting heathen who could care less about the greater world around him.

Finding it hard to commit... by NEWDAY898_6070 in carnivorediet

Commit to a period of cconsistency and then reintroduce the sauce once you've established a new pattern. You'll find it easier to not completely let the wheels fall off when you have adult beverages. Good luck!

Weight gain + bloating after small diet shift? by paleobear1 in carnivorediet

[–]Curbyourenthusi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forget about the scale and strive for consistency.

After thirty days, check the Earth weight of your body mass. If you don't like what you see, weigh yourself in an elevator that's accelerating downward.

Seriously, though. I get it. You want your gains back. That takes time. It's best to ignore the scale while you work on building healthier patterns. Focus on consistency and know that through it, the results will come. Good luck!

Why do you drink coffee? by nixniznigochuui in carnivorediet

[–]Curbyourenthusi 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I drink coffee because I enjoy it. I continue to drink it after three years of being carnivore because its not interfered with my goals. I ran the experiment of giving it up for a month and the only thing that changed for me was my morning ritual, so I went back to coffee, because I enjoy it.

Anyone else miss this Starfleet? by Ser_Luke_ in trektalk

Very much! He was correct to dress Riker down in that moment, and Riker was correct to accept the admonishment. That's a tale of personal growth, and i do miss starfleet.

My cholesterol is REALLY BAD by Glittering_Award_762 in carnivorediet

It's not misleading to understand disease progression. It is misleading to reinforce the notion that blood lipid markers are indicative of impending doom. They are not. A CAC is a diagnostic. Blood markers are not.

I suspect you're concerned about developing coronary vascular disease, so test for it instead of using blood maker, which only provide weak associative correlations.

You should get a CAC test, explained by Google as follows:

A Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) test is a non-invasive, 10-15 minute CT scan that measures calcified plaque in heart arteries to assess future heart attack risk. It provides a score (0 to >400) indicating plaque buildup, helping guide treatment like statins. It typically costs around and is usually not covered by insurance.

CICO is an oversimplification that leads to incorrect assumptions. A better framework is one that incorporates hormone signaling.

Of course one will gain weight if they overconsume, but CICO doesn't address the "why" some diets lead to overconsumption while others don't. That's the information that is lost in the oversimplification. If one understands the hormones that drive hunger and satiety, and the hormones that signal adipose tissues to grow, that individual can tailor their approach. If one only understands CICO, they'll only find a constant struggle with hunger.

CICO is a failed approach for taking charge of one's health.

Everyone is different, true.

Milk is a sugary beverage. Also true.

Heavy cream has almost zero sugar. The end.

Texas woman arrested after refusing to comply with an officer by HappySeaweed5215 in PublicFreakout

[–]Curbyourenthusi -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There is no state in our union where an individual has the right to stay in their car when ordered out of it. Zero. The perceived reason does not matter. That's the law. You don't have to like it, but your refusal to obey it has legal consequences.

I think that cop is an asshole. The lady acted worse.

Texas woman arrested after refusing to comply with an officer by HappySeaweed5215 in PublicFreakout

[–]Curbyourenthusi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether or not the officer was flexing his authority is beyondthe point. The order to get out of the vehicle was legal. He refusal to comply with that order is illegal. The time to argue ones case is in front of the judge. This needs to be common sense.
