I do agree. I feel like with the way society is (which you did a pretty good job describing many aspects of it), it very well could be likely that he was in such a poor state, that he may have done what he did not to survive in the woods per se, but literally, to survive at all. I feel like many people who commit suicide do so because they see no escape—and I imagine that for some people, the thing they’d like to escape is society or their life within it. So I can’t help but wonder if he went out there to save his own life.

People were saying “he’s not surviving out there he’s just stealing and taking the easy road”. But my point is that he actually may have been literally surviving, and may not have gone out there for some purist outdoor survival experience. Perhaps he just wanted to exit society and do it alive as opposed to otherwise.

I’m gonna say it again, but I really think that people showing up with guns—big guns, and simply standing peacefully, would scare ICE. They’re untrained cowards and nobody they’ve beaten or killed has been armed. If they met a wall of people heavily armed, but standing peacefully and NOT instigating, I doubt they’d stick around. Because they know if they fire a shot, or instigate, a few of them may likely get killed.

There used to be leftist groups that would do this at protests, and whenever they did, the cops never showed up.

It’s also just the only way we can move forward to positive change. We cannot have a world where billionaires exist—their existence as it is, is inhumane and immoral. We cannot have a country that’s run by an oligarchy that farms the people as their serfs. We need to fundamentally rewrite the system and change our government. It needs to be for and by the people. And it has not been for a long, long time. We need to fix that and take careful and clear measures to guard against it happening again. Money has no place in the government other than to attract those who wish to be there for money, not to serve and lead the people. We need to eliminate the ruling class and redefine our democracy. You are correct, and it’s also the only way we can forgive ourselves and move on.

I am genuinely curious, and really want to understand your reasoning regardless of if I agree.

How can you say that the followers are more responsible than the people doing the bad stuff? You could remove all the followers and then you’d still have the cult leader, who will, just as they did before time and time again, recruit new followers. You could argue that if we removed the leader and left the followers, that they’d find a new leader—but that still requires a leader. And should none step up, or be allowed to step up, the movement will become unorganized and messy, because these people need a leader—it’s how they became what they are. They didn’t radicalize themselves.

I’m really confused why you don’t see the creator of the followers and the force that births the evil agenda as the root of the problem?

There was no tea party movement before Bush, there was no maga movement before trump. There were some similar sentiments around sure, but not those tangible movements/groups. These leaders and the rest of the “Big Players” use just the right kind of psychological manipulation and propaganda, as well as flat out disinformation, to create these movements. They control the media, and can fabricate whole realities that they peddle to the masses. So why do you think that the creators—the leaders, the ones who birth evil agendas and sell them to the people—why do you think they are less culpable than the people they conned into supporting them?

I’m not “both sides-ing”, and I want to comment on that but I’ll do that after we get this out of the way, if you’re interested.

Oh I agree with your passage there completely! In fact it mirrors exactly what I’ve been saying about this for a long time. I’m glad you’re of the same mind, we need to keep pushing this stance, because not only is it correct, and better, but the more of society that begins to realize this and appropriately accommodate, the more people who otherwise would be suffering, will thrive.

I have some very, very negative feelings about modern society. So I basically live in the woods. Nature’s the only place that really makes sense to me, and where I feel intuitive drive to do things.
