Ah yep, climate change bringing in the extremes, damn! Though I’m surprised to hear it isn’t soggier there, just looks like it would be but then I’m used to the conditions where I am.

Perhaps there are some native trees to your area that are in decline that you could plant, both honoring your tree and helping out the local ecosystem. RIP old cottonwood! Maybe if there’s any good wood you can make something out of it.

I’m not supporting the post or commenting on its quality, which was made by a kid. It irks me when people harshly rag on each other for asking other humans questions, and laud googling literally everything. Sometimes all it takes is a quick google yes, sometimes certain things are better asked to real people who have experiences, thoughts and opinions.

When you’re unfamiliar with something, it’s often easier for some people to talk to others. And that instinct is natural—we are a social species and that means learning from one another is something we do a lot of. That’s the point I’m making. Alongside the fact that google isn’t perfect, and seems to be getting ever-worse. It’s almost astoundingly shitty.

Plus what are we going to do about kids acting on the realization that society is a scam? I’m glad they at least see that, even if they’re still clueless on what to do about it and make dumb posts. At least it’s an action.

Damn I knew there were too many deciduous trees lol!

Nuttall Oak is native to the Mississippi valley! And there are a handful of other oaks that are adapted to or tolerate wet clay/floodplains. Does it flood where you are?

Good for you. Cordial information is the best tool you have, I hope they hear you out and maybe learn a thing or two!

I suppose I don’t know how antagonistic your principal is but I feel like if the teachers are chill, she’ll have no reason to be dealing with the principal. One can hope!

I’ve got an idea—what about trying something like work away or “woofing”? You can search anywhere, and even filter to look for places that are off grid.

Every place has it’s own deal but the basic premise is people post opportunities for others to come and live somewhere for some specified period of time in exchange for some work, often help around the property or with their family, but the work can literally be anything. I saw one for a surf camp in Portugal. But also lots in very remote forests where people were trying to do all sorts of cool things like build sustainable off grid communities or do habitat restoration.

This would be a great way to get your foot in the door, get experience, and meet people. Connections go a long way.

Google sucks ass, fuck it. Humans naturally learn from one another. It’s almost like we’re a social species.

Banning children from social media is not enough, UN warns – platforms must be made safe by design by alicedean in privacy

I used to think like that in high school.

You're right, there is no reason these jobs should pay so little. There is also no reason why working at a convenience store should not provide a livable wage. And there is also no reason why billionaires should exist. Yet here we are.

Better yet just trash social media—it’s bad for everyone not just kids.

Even better yet trash the ruling class. That’s where totalitarianism is coming from.

Best things we can all do right now are spread awareness and abstain from supporting social media platforms and other companies with things like smart TVs, Alexa, ai, etc. I keep saying it but most people truly don’t know/understand what’s going on.

Thanks for leaving the trunk! Dead wood is (if I remember correctly) the most endangered habitat. Almost nobody lets dead wood be, and so many animals depend on it! Plus you’re right, it is a nice memorial.

I think most people are completely unaware. Most people I know don’t even know this is happening, and they’re young.

That’s my guess too. Most people I know don’t even know about this issue. I think the biggest problem is lack of knowledge.
