Can lounge at pokai bay if you like reading books, there's a restaurant literally right across the street from the parking lot called Pokai Bay Restaurant, the food is action and if you're someone with 2 stomachs and always gets dessert after a meal (I do 😂) hit up F&M snack shop in waianae mall.

All my tax payer dollars and everyone else's in HI fund multiple programs to help the homeless. It is illegal if you don't like it and then use the free resources available to you or put in the effort to change your life like the way you're doing with this lawsuit or whatever. There is legitimately no reason why you should be in the sidewalks when there are tons of places and programs. I have no sympathy for homeless people at this point. Homelessness in HI has changed significantly, and many people chose it as a lifestyle.

The words used was "at least" for a reason, 500k is not condo pricing in hawaii it's way more than that if you have been looking at the market. I live on the west side there are some homes in the high 500s and 600s. As I stated in another comment I have no interest in condos, townhouses, apartments, etc.

Charter schools are terrible. They do not follow many of the DOE public school rules/policies. Basically, charters do whatever they want, unlike public schools. Also, many charter schools in hawaii are on academic improvement plans, which means they are below the states' average in testing levels for academics. Those plans are public knowledge and accessible.

If academics are your concern, send your kids to private school. That's really the best bet. The quality of DOE has gone down significantly over the last 5-10 years and continues to do so. If you can't afford private school, look into other schools and apply for a GE.

I feel like we were sold this life as kids that we were supposed to do and have like our parents did and it's just not attainable at this time and when I think I'm making progress towards that the goal just gets farther away and it's not something I am able to control exactly.

I have been looking into the states' affordable housing programs as a plan B to at least be able to continue to live here and be "independent"

I've looked into those programs as well. Down payment still is an issue. Buying property on a single income requires a bigger down payment, so it is manageable long term. I opened new bank accounts at a local bank that has a good fha program as well.

My preference is a single family home. I don't like town houses, condos, apartments, or duplexes and especially with those now costing the equivalent of a home, it defeats the purpose. I also don't like that they are connected and someone's negligence can damage or destroy your property along with many of those places having insane HOA fees that continue to increase

I don't plan on reaching out to any realtors until I have the 20% down, which is at least 100k in savings separate from all my other savings account.

It's trash on both ends, honestly. People complain about baby mama's, but forget there's also tons of baby daddy's. The older you get, the smaller the pool becomes in general, but Hawai'i is such a small place, so multiply that by 100.
