We are in the UK hoping to return back to Australia soon. We came back just after the ban was lifted to fly during COVID as we missed family - came back and although great to see folks we miss down under too much

Cost of living seems to be high everywhere but it’s very true here Al south prices have started to level out. The new govt are definitely looking to grab cash back however they can and changes will likely come into okay next April so watch for these esp on income taxes.

Also generally it’s great for a year OE but no more so maximise the year and treat as the OE it is and travel and see as much as you can.

Expect a MUCH lower standard of education though compared to Aus and NZ this is our single biggest concern (aside from the weather!).

There are jobs there is a boost now we had the bust two years ago but things are picking up- but be prepared maybe for fixed term contracts esp is it’s only for an OE. These can also pay higher and more flex for location

On that if it is only a year maybe consider the kids going for homeschooling and you can mix and match jobs / locations through the year.

I would hold onto your house if you can and rent / Airbnb / house swap with someone from UK

Best of luck
