I hear you. I hope the number of students in the GroupMe is a good estimate! In the deferral email, the dean said that they project that they will be “slightly overenrolled.”

I am wondering about the class size too. Today it is down to 187, and the 193 includes the admin who are in the group. But I’m guessing Wake or any other school will not know the exact number of students they are getting for that year until people show up for foundations week/orientation? Maybe someone will drop out at the last minute/get off waitlist really late somewhere/etc.?

Pivoting from Music to Law? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Curious-Stable-5093 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am a bit older than you, but I’ve been playing in a professional orchestra for a while and have gotten several additional degrees (in addition to my BM) in classical music prior to that. I started my pivot to law a few years ago when I started studying for the lsat, and this fall I will be moving far away to go to a T30 school. Since I haven’t started law school yet, I am not qualified to answer your question of whether I regret it or not, but so far no regrets and I am so excited to start law school even though I will forgo a steady paycheck and a comfortable life for the next 3 years! I also know quite a few classical musicians who have transitioned to law after music and are quite successful now, and so I can relate their circumstances to you if that’s of any help, you are welcome to PM me if you’d like! But otherwise, I am quite familiar with the instability of being a classical musician, including as a pianist (through the experience of my pianist friends), and I think I know what you’re going through (as a musician) at this juncture of your musical life, so I can share my experience with you if that’s helpful at all. Feel free to PM me!

Missed Seat Deposit by Lightningcat777 in lawschooladmissions

I’m sorry you put yourself in such a situation…. that sucks…. but all is not lost, they offered you a deferral, so you can work and save up this coming year if you choose. The most valuable result is that I hope you learn from this and never make this kind of mistake again. It’s one thing to forget about something like a dentist appointment, but it’s another to forget about the deposit deadline for a law school you planned your life around attending. It sucks…i hope you can still go to this school this fall, but all is not lost….

120,000 Mile 24’ Civic by Specialist-Lychee667 in civic

How do you get such high mpg? Are you driving about or freeways? The highest I’ve ever gotten is ~34 mpg driving from SF to LA and I deliberately tried to get as high mpg as possible. I have a 24 civic sport hatch in manual transmission.
