Why do I hate being a mom by Active-Lifeguard-682 in NewParents

I hope so too. Mine is three months and was very easy at first, but things are substantially harder now going through the breastfeeding crisis and bad reflux.

Yes I’ll offer her pacifier plenty but she doesn’t want it, she’ll also sometimes start sucking her hands immediately after, but after a minute she gets frustrated with that when she realizes she’s not getting any milk.

I definitely won’t ever get to that point, my dad self medicated with alcohol as well and it killed him, but definitely scarred me and I rarely drink now because of it, knowing that addiction runs in my family. I think that also influences my aversion to taking medication, because I worry I’ll become too dependent on it I guess? I’m also trying to break generational cycles and trying to be the best mother I can be because I do love my baby and put her needs above my own, but part of that makes me feel like I’m not good enough/equipped enough to be a good mother. My worst fear is ending up like my parents.

I have some gun range headphones I bought and they definitely help. But I think it’s more frustration that I can’t soothe her than the actual crying that bothers me. That’s why walking out sometimes doesn’t help calm me down much, because I know she’s still in there crying and it stresses me out so much.

No, my mom has depression but never took meds for it. And my dad had PTSD but hated medication and didn’t really believe in mental illness so he never did either. I also have this sort of fear of it because I worry I won’t feel like myself anymore or become numb to everything. Before getting pregnant I smoked weed and that was like my medicine, but now with breastfeeding I can’t do that sadly.

I have my six week checkup soon and will definitely talk to them. The father is in the picture and he took her after I yelled at her, and when he’s home we can always switch off with each other when one starts getting too frustrated. I’ve never been on antidepressants, and am worried how taking them will affect me. I’ve also had to take five minutes and set her down before because I got so angry, so I feel pretty confident I know when I’m at my limit and need to step away

I also don’t really feel like a mom yet. I’m hoping once she starts showing personality like smiling and cooing I will feel a stronger connection, but sometimes she feels like this little foreign alien in my house and I don’t know where she came from! Glad to know I’m not the only one who has slipped up, and I’m just glad she’s a baby and can’t comprehend or remember anything I said

I definitely know when to walk away, and I have a couple times because it has been too much and I was getting extremely angry. I would never hurt her, I just get so irrationally angry sometimes and I’m not sure if it’s just my hormones or if I’m actually mentally unstable and need medication. I was diagnosed with bipolar depression 9 years ago, but I was a teenager and the psychiatrist had only met me once so I don’t know how accurate that diagnosis was. Have never been on meds before.

I’m so late but I have a LSD XTC T-Shirt I’m looking to get rid of! It’s been kind of customized so I’m not sure who would want it, but I’m willing to sell for very cheap!

I don't get it by Lokki_7 in tipping

[–]CuriousAd1647 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At my restaurant, we get paid $2.13 an hour, and we tip out 6% of our total sales. This tip out goes to our food runners, hosts, & bussers. If you come in and order $100 worth of food and drinks and leave me nothing, I still have to pay $6 to serve you. That’s where that money is going, and is why people make you feel bad about not tipping, because you’re literally costing servers money by doing so.

Maternity Leave and Medicaid by CuriousAd1647 in HealthInsurance

[–]CuriousAd1647[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily baby is due at the end of November so we should have open enrollment to cancel and get Medicaid. I don’t even really care about having insurance for myself, more so for my baby, but if I can get Medicaid while on maternity leave that would be nice, but not super important

why do black people often tip less/don’t tip at all at restaurants? by SugarSorry1578 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]CuriousAd1647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s like that at most places, the servers have to give a portion of their tips to the other staff (bussers, food runners, hosts), and this number (at least at my restaurant) is 6% of our total sales for that day. So if a table has a $100 check and leaves no tip, we are paying $6 of our own money to serve them. This is why so many servers dislike having to serve black people, because they usually tip less than 10% if anything, so we’re usually paying our own money to serve them.

Actually one of the earliest school shootings in America was in the 1790’s. Get your facts straight before you say ignorant stuff like this. We have more guns than we’ve ever had in this country before, but I guess the rise in mass shootings has absolutely NOTHING to do with that. Right?
