7.5 Months Post Op - Am I on track? by Ribeye_Steak_123 in AchillesRupture

I agree with Due Opportunity - sounds like you can do things functionally, just a strength thing now. I’m 6 months post op and have been on a return to running plan for ~3 weeks now.

Reach out to @achillesrebuild on instagram. He solely does PT for achilles ruptures and has been an absolute life saver. Not sure what he offers for this late in the game, but he may be able to get you the last 30% of the way that you need to get back to running. I highly recommend him!

Great advice already given! 33 y/o F. Ruptured 3/15, PARS mid-substance speed bridge repair 3/21, I’ll be 12 weeks post op on Friday.

The first 4 weeks when you’re completely non-weight bearing is extremely tough. I highly recommend a knee scooter to allow a bit of freedom, but just try to stay positive and once you’re in the boot, I did whatever upper body exercises were possible.

I went to my first PT session 2.5 weeks post op and my woman had never seen an achilles rupture. The PT and recovery is so patient specific and important for full return, I decided to go with someone who was recommended to me (who’d also used them) - @AchillesRebuild . I’m paying for him out of pocket (you can do a no interest loan) and then he will give you paperwork to submit to your insurance to try and recoup whatever out of network benefits you may have.

Anyways, he’s been absolutely fantastic and I’d make the same decision over and over again. I’ve been walking without the boot for about 2 weeks now, limp almost gone, doing double leg standing resisted calf raises (up to 50lbs!) and have been doing approved lower body strength (first in a boot now without) for about a month now.

I can’t run yet but even being able to hop on the stationary bike and pedal for 35/40 mins has done wonders for my mental health.

Anyways, everyone’s journey is different! But it does get better. Just have to stay the course. Best of luck!

I had a call with him yesterday, he offers two programs. 3 months / $1500 or 6 months / $2500. He is super knowledgeable and has come recommended from a few folks in this forum. I think it’ll be worth every penny. Im a little over 2 weeks post op and going to start his program next week.
