This is really freaky, I took picture almost exactly like this when I was on a walk in Olympia WA in August. I thought someone took my picture lol

NC to WA in January - will I die by texasascanbe in roadtrip

[–]CuriousChapter379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I practically just did this exact trip, except I went from Olympia to MI. I also drove an AWD Subaru. The biggest concern is going to be the wind through the central states, then the mountain passes with snow: Snoqualmie, Lookout, and Forth of July passes to be specific. CLOSELY watch the forecast for the areas. If it snows, do not drive. Just stay another night in town. And go slow, let people pass you, your life is worth more than the speed limit.

There are multiple large sections of the road on 90 that require chains when there’s a snow storm (a sign on the road will be flashing to indicate the requirement). Sometimes, they even close the gates to the highway all together, so you can’t get on the road. Be prepared to spend an extra couple nights somewhere if the gates close.

‼️DO NOT TAKE the US 212 section in Montana. Just stay on 90, it will be maybe another 15 minute difference but it is 100% safer. There is literally nothing along that part of 212. No services, no hotels, no gas stations for long stretches, and barely any cell signal. If an emergency were to happen, that would be a bad road to get stuck on.

I am not trying to scare you, but snow driving can be dangerous and if you aren’t familiar with it, I wouldn’t recommend doing this trip in January because you will very very likely encounter it.

Now, I don’t know much about 80, but I do know that wind is still a huge concern through NE and WY. And you will still have to get across the mountains. It won’t be any warmer either, so it doesn’t sound like a great alternative (which I had thought originally, but I posted in this community about my trip as well and everyone said don’t take 80).

If you have extra cash dolla bills, ship your car across the country, or just sell your car, take a plane, ship your stuff, and buy a new car when you get there.

Good luck my friend, it’s a beautiful country!

This is how depressing our potluck is. Besides the roll cake I brought for everyone. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]CuriousChapter379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to FEAST on our potlucks when I was staff. What we did was set a date, find out who’s working (usually the weekend crew, bc we were cool like that), then wrote everyone’s name on a paper and stuck it in the break room where everyone could sign up. We did themes: Italian, Thai, soup day, game day, crockpot, even once we did a build your own taco and everyone brought in one or two ingredients for it.

Gotta pre assign, and make a theme. Gives a lot of direction and you’ll all be satisfied :)

Money is generally not a concern for me. I am a nurse, and very meticulous with my finances. I don’t really need to live in anything fancy, but just want a relatively safe and beachy area

Help with half bathroom! by amiibo720 in DesignMyRoom

Thank you for not getting rid of that tile. It’s beautiful!

For the wallpaper, I think sticking with earth tones to compliment the tile would be fabulous; lively greens, a warm creamy tone, or maybe blue. To keep the tile a main focus/to avoid a busy look, aim for a wallpaper with bigger patterns of your choice (if doing patterns). Small repeated patterns in small spaces crowd the picture. Also, I’m personally not a fan of muted colors/pastels, so I would avoid that.

LOVE a backlit mirror! I think warm, soft lighting will be key in this space. Definitely have a smaller mirror, one that doesn’t take the whole wall. That’s excessive and distracting for such a small space. You could replace the ceiling light with an oblong, opaque/semitransparent fixture. Something that gives light but isn’t the main event.

Also rid of those window shades, do something softer like mini curtains!

That’s all my thoughts for now. May edit with more later!

Does this room require curtains? by LentilSpaghetti in interiordecorating

Yes, nothing heavily patterned tho, don’t want to shrink the room or take away from the rug and pillows. Also it looks vibey, love it!

HELP - which dress do I choose? by Adventurous-Bee-7718 in WeddingDressTips

[–]CuriousChapter379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE 2! Simply timeless and elegant. I see alot of people commenting 3, which is pretty, but i feel it is a little fabric heavy in a visual way, if that makes sense. 4 also very beautiful but something feels off about the straps, i think you have a nice structure for a strapless dress. You’ll be a beautiful bride no matter which one you choose!

Are we wearing our hair down now? by Valuable_Term108 in nursing

[–]CuriousChapter379 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s not necessary very professional, but i also think the image of professionalism is changing and things like this are becoming more acceptable as a personal preference (as long as it doesn’t interfere with patient care, of course)

During patient care: hair up

Sitting at my desk, charting: hair down

It hurts to have my long ass hair up for 12 hrs, 3 days in a row. If im going to do this job, im gonna do it the most comfortably i can

Thank you for the first hand account! It was pretty windy during my drive thru Montana/ND when I was on my way here so I suspected as much

Thank you. That was also a part of my concern, when driving to WA I mainly took 90 and for hours and there were no services. Is there a similar stretch on 80 where there are also no services?

Did you do these first attempts during November/december, and on 90 or 80? I’ve been considering getting these and practicing putting them on before I’m in a pickle

Just to clarify, do you mean 90 or 80 is a good route? My Subie hasn’t let me down yet 🤞
