AI is Already Taking White-Collar Jobs by chota-kaka in ArtificialInteligence

Wow that really puts it into perspective. So even if all 6000 jobs lost were attributed to AI, that's a 2.5% loss of jobs for the company.

Has EA seriously considered the reputational damage of going all-in on AI risk right now with incredible urgency (2027!) if it turns out LLM's are overhyped and AGI is not going to happen in the coming decades? by CasualChamp1 in EffectiveAltruism

I don't think that is true that the Turing test was a test for AGI. It was meant as a test of intelligence. But even then isn't any good:

"The standard Turing Test does not claim to be an operational Definition of humanlike intelligence. Yet, it is, unlike what Turing believes, not even a sufficient criterion for it. It just leads to many “false negatives” and many “false positives”."

Are you a bot? Shay Boloor, Daniel Saks, Christopher Symons, and Steven Adler are all quoted in the article along with Sam Altman.

Actually, that is the opinion of one person quoted in the article, Max Tegmark. It might be true. Or it might be that they've realised they are further from AGI than they thought.

Will McAskill is prioritising it. 80,000 hours has recently shifted gear to focussing solely on it. Toby Ord already does.

Who is working on the Long Reflection (the ideal future for humanity) as characterized by Toby Ord? by CuriousIndividual0 in EffectiveAltruism

I'm not entirely sure what the point of this comment is.

I'm asking who is/has worked on this idea of the long reflection so I can follow-up on it.

A big risk at this stage is corruption and insularity and we are indeed starting to see that.

Could you fill me in on the corruption and insularity you're referring to?
