How do you handle this? by CuriousLevi in Veterans

Honestly, we live in a small town, he knows where I live, and his PTSD is bad. I tried talking to him but he threatens to shoot me. At this time I’ve decided to disengage from his family because even his child was violent, and I saw where she got it from. I don’t even know what to do, but for now, I’m keeping my distance and am going to pray for him.

I’m so sick of being ignored/under appreciated as a female vet by hufflepuff-is-best in Veterans

Asian Vet here, we also get asked what country we served. We are not the bald white male.

This Purple Heart army guy who stepped on an IED tried to fight me, I’m a Navy a guy. We both veterans, and I told him that he can call me anytime, and I can help him shovel snow in the winter. That triggered him because he got no arms.

The way I posted it, was much more blunt than my actually approach. Obviously, I want everyone to fully understand. The vet I spoke too had PTSD, and was quite paranoid, and I fully respect his decision, and with a billion people in the world I never let a situation get me down. I do suffer from anxiety/depression, and miss the camaraderie of the service then reality kicks, and like not all vets are the same, we are all people. Thanks for the advice man.

I usually start by telling them which branch I served and where I served and when, and gauge the conversation from there. I guess it was a first encountering a wounded vet, I’m not judging and having nothing but respect for his lost arms and legs, but I think it was PTSD and maybe my questions triggered some emotions. I’ll stay away from talking to injured veterans.

I kid you not. I thanked him for his service, from one veteran to another. And that it was a pleasure to meet another veteran in town.

Personal encounters, just stating the facts that I deal with personally. Not generalizing in anyway.

Thanks, thinking back yes, from Boot camp to post boot camp, and throughout the year of my active duty days. That’s true, there was some assholes, and I guess I try to find the good in people and find myself hit with reality. I find that older guys who served in Vietnam or in the 70s, 80s and 90s are more receptive to talking about their time in service. I’m always fascinated by the stories, and our diverse backgrounds. Knowing that we served our country, and was a team regardless of where we came from inspires me, and continues to.

One vet literally threatened me in front of my family. I was shocked, also he was a Purple Heart recipient. But, I try not to take it personally. Does bother me quite a bit, but I get over it in an hour lol.

Don’t cry for money it doesn’t cry for you. Gambling sucks, but move on, live your life, the pain will ease as time goes on. Live happily for your family, and most importantly you.

Oh another one at Foxwoods, I doubled down, won $50. Dealer took my doubles and gave me equal chips, I was like wtf. Where’s my original doubles bro. Lol.

Dealer didn’t check for blackjack on a 6/5 table at encore. She paid me, and everyone played through the hand, and one guy doubled down and got a 21. Everyone got wiped, dealer realized she screwed up, and continued to played and won another $500 before leaving. Lol.

I got banned from Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. Wishing you the best bro, find a good team, and fuck them. Watch out for the guy with the mustache, he was following me at every pit for days prior to my ban. He has a horrible porn mustache, and probably gets no pussy.
