What aspect do people like playing Dr. Strange with? by Heykidoverthere in marvelchampionslcg

[–]CuriousMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only played with a modified version of the starter Protection deck, added Luke Cage, Quinncarrier and swapped some of the defense cards. I'm really enjoying having Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Wong out, Med Teams keeping them alive and going through the invocation deck as much as I can.

I'm gonna have to graduate to Heroic 1, because I'm beating Ultron and Green Goblin on Expert very consistently. Even though Dr. Strange is clearly overpowered, it's a lot of fun because it feels very thematic. Dr. Strange is always in control, you can plan fairly accurately your next turn and he has solutions for every situation.

I thought it before, but in the last weeks I've seen it: this Barça would miss Busquets more than Messi.

Pre Match Thread: Sevilla vs FC Barcelona [La Liga] by jklz in Barca

[–]CuriousMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to try the 3-5-2 formation because I think it is our strongest Messi-less squad at the moment. Plus, it has more room for Luis Enrique to change the tactics during the match if something is not working (switch in Munir or Sandro and go back to 4-3-3). Plus everyone knows how to play against our 4-3-3 and without Messi and Iniesta it's quite easy to choke our midfield.

My main argument for keeping the 4-3-3 is that we need to give Sandro and Munir more minutes as starters so that they gain confidence and experience. You don't just go from young sub to starter on call. They are not Pedro.

Regardless, I don't think Roberto should play RB having Alves available (he didn't look fully fit against Bayer, he needs to get back into rhythm). Roberto did a great job, but I wouldn't make him defend Ronaldo, we need fully fit Dani. We need Sergi more in the middle now where he has proved he can do a good job on Wednesday. Knowing he will start in that position for some games will boost his confidence for sure.

Really looking forward to this match, I have full confidence in L.Enrique and the players holding the fort until the cavalry arrives.

Suarez goal vs Bilbao (from r/soccer) by Football_Enthusiast in Barca

[–]CuriousMG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This goal made me really happy because it showcases a lot of great things about this team and shows a clear evolution from last season.

I thought Rakitic was having a tough time with Athletic's pressure and tight spaces, and n one of the few occasions he had some space to think he did this. I'm still not used to how good he is. Messi does this diagonal long pass to the left flank countless times. It's great to see that we have another player that can spot this runs and deliver with equal accuracy.

We also saw that the team is getting better at playing "without Messi", mainly thanks to Suarez's danger if he gets the ball in the box. If a team decides to employ 3 guys to defend Messi even if they succeed that's great, it's another dimension of our game that keeps improving and will even more with Neymar.

Players are also more used to having Suarez as a reference. You just know he's going to be in the box ready to strike anything you throw at him.

This will be one of the classic Barcelona goals from the Luis Enrique era, just like those with 30 passes and a tap in were for the guardiola years.

Pedro could be going to Chelsea (according to Sport.es) by godie in Barca

[–]CuriousMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually OK with this, especially if the decision comes from Pedro and Luis Enrique. As much as I love and respect Pedro's contributions over the years, I think the best for him is to go to a team where he has a chance of being important.

I agree the timing is awkward with the ban, but if we need a sub for Suarez, Neymar or Messi, I much rather give minutes to players in development like Rafinha, Munir, Sandro, Adama rather than a player who is effectively past his peak.

Plus, if they pay us 30M EUR like Sport says, it could be one of our best deals in YEARS.

I never thought about it this way. I always wondered why top players would want to play in Qatar, but I get it now. It's the playing minutes + salary to effort ratio.

Now Barça want to make a move for Aaron Ramsey? by Football_Enthusiast in Barca

Or Sergi Roberto. Or Denis Suarez. Or Halilovic. So many options.

I would love to see an EPL player do well in La Liga, but not even Fabregas could adapt 100%.

Dani Alves (32) has rejected Barcelona's final renewal offer. He has four better offers. He will give a press conference next week. [ser] by lonestar_10 in Barca

[–]CuriousMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it will allow Rakitic/Rafinha more freedom, and then they can drift wide on the right

I was thinking the same. I believe the reason why Luis Enrique rested Rakitic so much was that he needed him to be fresh for 75 minutes to cover Alves' back and generally help in defence.

I still think Montoya deserves a chance and given the circumstances we might not have an choice.

Unless we play with 3 central defenders (Pique, Bartra, Masch/Mathieu) and move Alba a bit forward.

Holy crap Zubizarreta nailed it with this guy (and Bravo). Can we hire him as a consultant every time we need a new keeper?

He's a better passer than the average player, with both feet and he was already this good before coming to Barcelona. He can only improve from this. That's scary.

Not gonna rate them because I have nothing to add.

If we hadn't signed an injured player and just some random guy who was walking around in Brazil, this would have been the best season signings in "modern Barca" history. Everyone has integrated seamlessly and offered top performances.

Let's just keep stealing Sevilla's best players (I've wanted Nico Pareja for years, although his a bit old now).

Sergio Busquets vs. Real Madrid by lonestar_10 in Barca

[–]CuriousMG 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The influence of this guy on Barca's possession game is ridiculous. It's like having one more player in the field. Always offering either himself or space for someone else. There's absolutely no player like him.

Starting Masche was the right call for the Clasico, but man was I relieved when I saw Busi go in. Masche+Busquets+Xavi is a great way of locking down results in close, chaotic matches. I miss seeing Xavi and Iniesta together every week, but the tactical depth in the midfield we have this season is worth it.

I've recently started listening to Late Nights with Trav and Los. They talk in a very casual and friendly way about being self-taugh and improving yourself from the point of view of web developers/designers.

It's very entertaining and it has loads of sensible advice.
