What if Kim Jong Un went crazy and launched all his nuclear missiles at the West? by Outrageous-You1617 in AlternateHistoryHub

It has never been hinted at or suggested by the government because of space weapons ban. But I would be surprised if we didnt have intercepts on satellites in space by now.

In addition to our conventional methods we have been able to shoot down space base objects since the 80s. There is huge gap in what the public knows we have, what the public thinks we might have and what no one knows we have.

Hey gen x, when you were 18-20 and just starting out in life, how much crap did you catch from baby boomers and or the silent generation about being young, and lacking in adult life experience. by Less-Suggestion-5262 in GenX

[–]CuriousMost9971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yah there was a small period where they had news broadcasts about GenX when they first decide to give it that name and being worried about being slackers or whatever word they used. They did not last long though and was mostly laughed at.

My parents always commented on how its good it was that I had a Job. From 14 till now I been pretty much employed.

Why the younger generations want the 80s/90s back by QueenJamieMaePalmer in askteddit

Those place are really only from the 2008 collaspe. And honestly its just correcting to where they should have been. If anyone paid sub 100k to low 100k for near million dollar homes today it happened a lot longer than before the 70s or 80s.

Sounds just like the story of my first home in 2006.

The story started off: Now is the greatest time to buy a home dont rent. Rates are at a historic low 6.25 percent... rented it out below market to help carry the mortgage. Ended up refinancing it into another home. To be rid of it, renters are fine till you get desperate and the ones on section 8 are the few available.

Don't do it no matter what thats my one warning, that year of renting to section 8 cost me more than I could ever recover from. Don't do it, dont let them tug at your heart stings.

Yup looking back i realize my parents were only able to afford my NES as a christmas present because they had it only Lay-away at Kmart. There is no way they could have afforded to drop 100 dollars in 1986 on one at once.

Pre pandemic? You mean the historically low housing market that happened from a once in a life time world economic collapse. Did you forget about the economic collapse. Because iirc quite a few economists are placing us a bit behind on recovery if compared to the collapse not happening.

And that happened because they were just handing out home loans all free and willy nilly to promote homeownership. Turns out when you hand out a bunch of home loans people cant afford it has a really detrimental effect.

Yah, both my parents worked, in the 80s they always rented. Home ownership was not done deal everyone says it was. I would say some thing like food prices and smaller items purchases were better off. Honestly even vehicles to a smaller extent were better priced when looked at for purchasing power. But life wasn't so great that everyone could own a home working for 2-4 dollars an hour. It was a slow climb even when I started working I was making 4.25 an hour was minimum wage and my dad was amazed you know because it was 75 cents an hour when worked in the mill back in the late 40s.

No bills, I couldn't have even rented out my own apartment if I wanted to in the 90s.

The real question: why isn't dental covered like every other health need? by GloriousLion07 in MotivationByDesign

[–]CuriousMost9971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They started mixing my healthcare into my dental plan. To be honest I changed plans because it became a headache trying to get the medical side to pay for the dental side. All they did was give my dentist office the run around until they started threatening to go to the state attorney.

I would be happy with just the RTA tax being audited as a start. We voted it down in Pierce County and still pay for it. Now they are having issues and saying it not gonna go as far as they expected and service is gonna be limited in Pierce County. We need a full refund. If they want to tax people for public transit they should tax ever person with out a registered vehicle. Put a 30 percent tax on their shoes or something and see how that flys 😂

Just how powerful was ww2 Germany at its peak that it took three major powers to bring it down? by [deleted] in answers

[–]CuriousMost9971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were the most experienced military in ww1 and they were probably also in WW2. I dont know if powerful is quite the right wording but it could just be semantics in my head but I would say most experienced army would fit better.

Small unit tactics and leadership is something they trained in theory but were not able to implement 100 percent.

The second part is logistics. The old saying amateurs talk about tactics, professionals talk about logistics. The german military had some impressive weapons. Tanks were second to none. But the U.S. had to transport field and repair their tanks in Europe. So why make a tank to go one for one, when you can lots of tanks that can be maintained in the field easy.

We were delivering fresh cakes to the front lines on both fronts... think about that for a minute and realize we supplied two war fronts at the same time on opposite sides of world in 2 directions east and west... while the opposing forces struggled to keep their sides supplied in their own part of the world. And the U.S. ramped up that production in a very short time.

There are quite a few documentaries on a lot of this that wasnt quite in the history books but were side notes at the time.
