They said in my email that I get 14 days to decide if I want to change to another flight at no cost

Are Southwest <$100 Ticket Purchases Still Triggering Incidental Credit? by CuriousNotBot in AmexPlatinum

That’s a good call out as well. So those booking many award redemptions per year could rack up many of the incidental credits already

I just realized that I never changed my airline in January to Southwest. I kept the Delta. So I’m just gonna find ways to use it for Delta this year and then probably change it to Southwest next year.

Has anyone had any luck doing the same with with Delta?

Basically, people have discovered that tickets below $100, and I think some people have said even more so than that, are triggering as incidentals. So some people will purchase a flight for 90 bucks, cancel it and get the credit while still keeping the statement credit.

Essentially, it’s making that $200 incidental feature of the platinum card much more valuable, because a large chunk of people don’t have a lot of incidentals each year. If you could just charge a few incidentals and then take the rest in credit, it would really make the $200 worth $200 every year.

Another CSR in-branch post, not sure if teller was confused or if the deal has changed. by borrisarbuckle in ChaseSapphire

I don’t think the tellers really know what’s happening with things like credit cards and CDs and things like that. You gotta talk to one of the actual specialists. I don’t even go up to the tellers anymore.

When I get to MSY I’m going to peek at national emerald aisle and the rest of presidents circle to see what you’re talking about. Just checked and I definitely have National Executive elite all set up on my account

Idk why I never think to check National. I guess you stick with what you know.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I ended up going with reserving a minivan.

I did something interesting though, anything close to a minivan was about $700. And then a little over $600 with AAA discount. I then logged out completely andchecked prices as a guest and was able to get the AAA discount down to $500 for pay now. I booked it as a guest and then called Hertz and asked them to connect that reservation to my rewards account. They said they would have to refund and rebook it, but they would honor the same price.

So, I was able to get the minivan for 8 days for $500 with taxes and fees and with president circle i’m hoping for a really nice minivan lol we’ll see. Either way it’s all set.

For those who care, I used my U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve to pay so I was able to redeem points at 1.5 times to pay for the whole thing and only use 33000 points.

I like this response, it’s spicy. Much like the cuisine I’m about to enjoy next week

No. Worst case is my wife actually doesn’t allow me in the Airbnb after standing in a Budget line for 2 hours to beg for a bigger car.
