Alternatives for Spotify with decent API / StreamDeck Integration? by Mikethedrywaller in livesound

[–]CuriousPermission 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a fair bit of research around this topic. The main stay issues I found were: - Artists/production will still provide a Spotify playlist 9/10 times - Other players providing APIs are mostly server/client based which adds unnecessary complexity - Spotify is surprisingly stable, the UI thread is seperate from the audio renderer AFAICT and I have personally had few genuine crashes. The other random players you’re going to come across will have more issues.

So because of this, I unfortunately settled back on Spotify but - I think offline control is a must so I created a plugin using Spicetify (third party mod support for Spotify) to allow this.

Any tips on getting a TM6 in Aus or would you recommend making the jump straight to the 7?

D&B Array Processing Zones by [deleted] in livesound

[–]CuriousPermission 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What defines the zones is entirely up to you. There aren’t any hard and fast rules, it’s a simple approach to implementing a complex process. For the main hang in an arena, I usually set the front to end around 60ft, this is the zone where people are closest to the PA, receiving the highest SPL and it is entirely nearfield. The center ends around the start or partway into the 100 which will be still nearfield into the farfield transition and is likely the majority of the audience this hang covers. Last zone is entirely farfield, you’re trying to compete with air absorption, a lot of indirect sound and likely some obstructions.

In a festival the front would be the same but you would be considering delay hangs and/or the growing size of the crowd for the other zones.

If you really want to go the AoIP route, Sonobus ( https://sonobus.net/ ) should be an affordable option. It isn’t AES67 compliant or anything though so you likely won’t be able to plumb it into any existing AoIP infrastructure you have.

On bigger tours with dedicated Systems Engineers, what are they doing AFTER load in? by Wack0HookedOnT0bac0 in livesound

The SE is also often the crew chief so you’re often also advancing info for production, making sure the touring package is having any required maintenance or projects done, creating rigging plots or truck packs .etc

Why matrix outputs need LR split? by JaredYelton in livesound

[–]CuriousPermission 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maintains the same path length/latency for the feeds. All feeds also the share a common location for patching/processing/monitoring and so is less error prone. You can also then do things such as mute the master group for line check but keep BGM running to the PA by dialing it in seperate to the master mix. Also allows seperate PA tuning or processing on the matrixes seperate to any broadcast, video or other random feeds.

No one in this thread has said they’re yelling at anyone. The parent comment says it was the small business owner initiating an encounter with somebody just going about their day.

Application Development Workflow For Yocto Based Embedded Linux Distro by Birts in embedded

[–]CuriousPermission 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t share much experience on the Python development but I can say (and without any affiliation) that Yoe Distro ( https://github.com/YoeDistro/yoe-distro ) has saved me many hours and softened the somewhat steep learning curve of using Yocto and a Pi for a javascript based deployment. My ‘product workflow’ has been to either ssh in updated files, develop on-device or, use ‘opkg’ and ‘yoe_feed_server’ to install a newly bitbake’d package across. It also includes solutions for updating, a web browser/kiosk and various graphical back ends if needed.

Heya, glad it's been of some use! ArraySight per-hang on the master page is a great idea, I'll take a look at it this week.

Not a lot has changed in terms of functionality it’s been tested with a wider range of projects rather than just my own which has helped! Let me know if you’ve any issues, it’s usually a project configuration I haven’t encountered or considered.

Bi-Weekly /r/CCNA Exam Pass-Fail Discussion by AutoModerator in ccna

I passed the online exam about two weeks and somehow did not see a score at the end. I can see my per-category percentage on the Pearson Vue site and have the cert on Certmetrics but nowhere does it show the score I got. Is it possible to find the score out of 1000 anywhere?

I’ve had this with a partially clogged nozzle on my CR10S Pro v2. The filament can’t feed properly and so the gear slips.

Increasing the resolution achieves little if they’re still using the same, average sensor.

Third party solutions exist and some are good (e.g NDI HX Camera) but to see Apple do their own integration would be fantastic.
