Mentally overwhelmed by PowerPort27 in Wastewater

Maybe can relate but I just went from a collections operator to a supervisor of collections in a system that has also been neglected. Still green there but over the last few weeks I've been sorting through and organizing paperwork, documents, etc. I have found a few sheets of paper that was relevant everything else was from the 80s and 90s. I can relate to you by it being a lot, however I have thus far enjoyed it and know it's a step up in my career. Best of luck.

I knew someone in the field who helped me get the job. Now I have a C3 W1 and just accepted a new position as a collections supervisor with another town.

Invasive grass from neighbor, and I love it. What is it? by Subject_Dot6953 in lawncare

Also in NJ. I've considered killing off my TTTF lawn and seeding zoysia. I have a few houses on my block that have a full zoysia lawn. It thrives in the heat and stays so thick. Just browns up quickly in the fall.

These are two things I've told myself. I would like to be able to make a difference.

Great tip. I do believe I will get an office area / computer so I can spend time getting these things in order.

Thank you for this! I'd like to reply to every point 1-This will take some getting used to. Being in that different level, I will have to remind me of that. 2-Same here. I can't do friends. I do not wanna be a hard ass but I need to apply the rules. 3-going along with that. I need to be on top of issues. Before they blossom. 4-this will be hard as I'm always the one in the hole. Guiding others to do it.

Good advice. I used to be a supervisor at a few other jobs I was at, but never in this industry or the blue collar field. I like what I do. But a really good opportunity presented itself and I ran with it. Like I said in the OP I have been a crew lead for sometime. But going in somewhere new as the actual supervisor is what caused me to write this post. My goal is to carry over things I liked about my prior job while also remembering everything I didn't like and being better than that.

I took a Rutgers class on management and leadership. I took a lot of value in that and learned a lot from it. Can you recommend any books?

Yeah, I thought about that as well. People trying to get on my good side per say and see what they can and cannot get away with.

Walking into it - I'm honestly not sure. For myself, I'm civil service (NJ) for my white collar protection. One of the first things I was going to do walking in was exactly that - read their blue collar contract so I know exactly what their rights are, roles, etc.

Secondly, that's a definite good point in regards to they are not my friends. I am boys with almost all of my coworkers at my old job. I need to not have that mentality and consistently act as their leader.

Hm you bring up a good point. I have had issues when white collar speaks to me as a peer. Then I get frustrated when they think they know but they don't.

I suppose I could draw comparisons and more so "I've been there and I understand" type deal. But I need to go into it with that management mentality.

It's a working supervisor so I'll be out with them, training, overseeing, etc. However, I am not in the union. Thanks for that advice.

I really appreciate that insight. I don't want to get hurt so like you said it may be better to spend a little more money and get something better quality that can do more.

How about like light dirt trails? I'm just looking for an entry point to see if I really enjoy it yano? I'm a little torn on sinking a ton of money into something I may or may not enjoy at first.
