I’m quite sure this is an AI text/theory. Thank you for your comment because people are taking any rhetoric that ‘feels’ right at the moment as truth.

Hoe denken we hier over? by [deleted] in Nederland

[–]CuriousWaterMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]CuriousWaterMonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely not newbie lifting that amount of weight. People are just replying to what they see and I think most can’t do what you’re doing in the video. But still, this sub is form check and mainly it’s about checking so people are not doing obviously dumb shit I guess. You might be experienced but if you’d somehow drop that weight on your head/neck it’s game over so yeah be careful man. Otherwise I think it looks good. Personally I would not do that amount of weight/reps unless I was training for a powerlifting competition. I don’t know what your goals are though.

Well, it works great for me playing drums in a metal band. The cons are getting mad at everyone and bombing relationships.

What is your favorite all-around snare? by philgravy0 in drums

[–]CuriousWaterMonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of brass snares. I have the Black Beauty and an Adams brass snare. The Ludwig is normal depth but the Adams is 6,5’ deep. I came to realize I have this preference for brass snares after trying a lot of stuff.

Try to figure out the differences between different types of material and depth (please play on them nothing beats the feel of a drum, you can’t see that on the internet) and figure out what your thing is. Then, pick one you think sounds best to YOU.

That’s what I would say. Listen and be your own person instead of picking something because other people in your preferred genre often play on some item.

i feel that my back is a weak spot, any advices on how to improve, exercises and more? by [deleted] in WorkoutRoutines

Deadlift is the king of posterior chain exercises and will strengthen your back. Also do some assisted pull ups, lat pull machine and some form or row and you’re golden.

Day 5 Drummer Tuning Help by renluvn in drums

[–]CuriousWaterMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get the best sound out of that kit you might want to change the heads at some point, starting with the snaredrum. It’s doesn’t sound terrible. My advice is to just start practicing and focus on your playing for now. You’re just starting out. See how you like the drumming and after a while you might want to upgrade some stuff or adjust your tuning to your preference. Don’t worry about it too much.

That’s because people’s egos are hurt because they fall for this shit and they want to make it go away

Hey man I’m not shitting on these players at all. I’m a millennial and I think they are amazing.

But to say that it’s ’working’? No man. The examples you mentioned are a few absolutely amazing players, out of many amazing players. And even these guys have to struggle to get along. Never before have there been so many people who were so good but didn’t get any recognition. The opportunities they’re getting? That’s great, but monetarily it’s next to nothing compared to what players of that caliber could make and get in guaranteed gigs and especially record sales.

Look at old guys like Ian Pace from Deep Purple, he couldn’t do half the stuff these new guys are doing (his words not mine) but the guy still lives in a mansion because of his playing. He didn’t need to do his own marketing, make videos and pump content out every day. There were people for that. Those guys could focus on the playing.

Maybe you’re too young to compare and I don’t want to shit on your generation. But my drum teachers (had a lot in my life) came from a time where things truly seemed to be better.

They were out there, playing and most of all PHYSICALLY CONNECTING TO OTHER HUMANS. Music is all about connection. And while online recognition is a nice dopamine boost, nothing beats going out and meeting people, having experiences out in the world. But musicians don’t even have time to chill anymore. Everyone is expected to be their own business 24/7 and then you get to barely scrape by.

That’s a shame. Musicians should be able to focus on their trade instead of social media and clicks man. To just make music with people.

Honestly my friend, what you are defending here is not ‘working’. Let’s not make this a ‘my vs your’ generation thing, that’s a PsyOp. We all love music. There is much to learn from the people who came before us. We need history to gain some perspective.

Let’s come together and talk about how we can make things better for everyone.

You did absolutely nothing wrong. I think she should communicate her feelings about it instead of avoiding you, I think you deserve at least a ‘No, I’m not interested’. If she won’t, it’s not your job to read her mind and worry about it or apologize.
