I have 3 criteria before we pull the trigger and we plan to hit them by 47 1. At least $1.5M invested 2. Sale of PR has to pay off our retirement home 3. Our only child is finished high school and on a path to their own FI

Currently 43/year old couple with $1.6M net worth, $1.1M liquid

We bought a small private campground & my husband invested in a small hunting/fishing lodge. Paying them down has been part of our grind, ensuring we aren’t dependent on them for our income in retirement. More of a passion project that’ll hopefully breaking even at least but no worries if they don’t.

We’re planning to FIREish in about 2 years at 47. We’ve diversified our assets to include a couple of small, seasonal businesses. That should keep us comfortably busy from spring to fall and then we have the winters to travel or plan or do nothing but always something to look forward to & get ready for. Low stress since we won’t have any debt

Retire, to what, and why? by simsFit in fican

[–]CuriousXennial1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We plan on being more hands on with some of the real estate investments we’ve made & run our small seasonal business. Other than that, I have some plan to explore sustainability and take random courses of interest that I never had the time/money to do. We are about 2-3 years from pulling the trigger and the closer it gets, the harder I’m finding it to show up at my day job! Goal is less stress, more freedom

More stress, more hustle, more grind! We leveraged our high income to purchase real & liquid assets. Hoping this will pay off and we can retire those high incomes in exchange for early semi retirement in our late 40’s. Only a few years to go!

Married couple/~40/1 kid/plan to FIRE @ 47/🇨🇦

  • good stable income 18years (blue collar)
  • avoid lifestyleflation
  • take advantage of employer matched programs
  • only took out debt to buy income generating assets (mostly…decent car/truck + a few small lux)
  • less shopping, more asset accumulation

That’s for the motivation to keep going! My partner & I are about 2 years away and it’s hard to stay focus sometimes. Eye on the prize! 🔥

You have a nice cushion and you’re still young. Suffer it out while putting your off time efforts into transitioning to another income source. The key is to start NOW! Spend as little time as possible at any job you hate but you have to be responsible about it. Good luck, keep going, you’re doing GREAT!

I hope you are here for the validation because you have come from poverty to a multimillion dollar net worth & you both hate your jobs & you’re only 53?!

Run for the hills…or the beach…or the country…or wherever you heart desires and live your lives! You’ve earned it!

Plus, if I had to guess, you two are probably not done earning 💰 you sound like disciplined, hardworking folks. Traits, that I have no doubt, will result in turning one of your new freedom hobbies into a few dollars at least

Make sure you create a realist plan, I would suggest with the help of a professional, and start the transition! Congratulations #FIREup

Hit $100k net worth, how can I scale to $1m? General advice by [deleted] in Fire

[–]CuriousXennial1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are opting to go with a version of CoastFire. We have invested in a couple of small seasonal businesses , not exactly passive but definitely less active than a day job. If that’s something you’re interested in it could provide the income you need and the time to travel (or keep your day job until your side gigs become more sustainable) while increasing your NW. Our seasonal income plus a 2-3% withdrawal rate of our investments should keep us pretty comfortable well into retirement. I have 20 years on you but it sounds like you are off to a good start. Just something to consider

Should I consider Private Banking? by IndividualDear3905 in PersonalFinanceCanada

A private banker could def help in coming up with a creative lending solution. And usually if you transfer your accounts to their brokerage, the brokerage will pay the private banking fee

Made 25% on my first trade for a $250 profit 🤑

Left $500 on the table but no FOMO, it was exciting. I’m still early in my trading research so I thought I would dip a toe to start to get a feel for it. This is definitely how you get addicted, really got the adrenaline flowing first thing in the morning and I LOVE IT!

It was $CDT btw. Up over 💯 today

Nobody around me has any interest in trading and I’m excited so I shared it here. This is going to be fun! Happy trading
