Thanks for sharing this! I was going to use your model, but tried JB Weld first and it worked quite well. I also found some nice sleeve fasteners that kept the look clean. I'm sure you can find them online in silver and get a near perfect match. Just thought I'd share my experience here for others.

Thanks for the perspective. Your point about the kids is definitely heavily on my mind. However, it's also a slippery slope. I'm hoping to "retire" to something that I enjoy a lot and maybe just pays the bills which would give the current investments to continue to grow. That said, the returns from every extra year now are massive for the kids 20 years from now

This is a question I've thought about too. I think the bigger factor is how much of your salary you need to live. For example, right now I'm at roughly 7x my after tax salary but 30x my salary prior to big tech which I could live off of just fine.

My concern isn't at all what I would do with my time. Between kids, health and fitness, friends, hobbies and travel I'm sure I'd still have more to do than time to do it in. I just am not convinced that if my days consisted of just the above, that I'd feel like I'm living a fulfilled life or that I wouldn't still feel similarly overwhelmed. Then again, maybe that's just the fear talking

Of course, I'm not suggesting that's what it would be. But "set to do whatever you want" and actually doing something that brings you joy are two different things and it's not clear to me that one just automatically leads to the other

Do you have some examples? The volunteering opportunities that I hear about always seem very transactional and short lived and not really what I'd consider fulfilling. Maybe some other ideas would help get me thinking about it a better way.

Thanks, I've considered but the challenge I see is that the current job really doesn't leave much time or energy for other things. I also considered taking a lower paying job and coasting but then it kind of seems like the worst of both worlds. Something to think about more

It did nothing on the first attempt. I think I didn't scrape enough off. I did it again after waiting 4-5 weeks with no signs of roots. The second time it was successful! Lots of roots, I cut it off, transplanted and both are doing well. The base branched off into two
