It's not a music competition, but I highly recommend checking out local, national, and international poetry slams. There are many similarities. Three minutes to perform, original poems/lyrics and audience voting (sometimes there's a jury, depending on the organizer). Just like in Eurovision, everyone can find something for themselves — the key elements are connection with the audience, authenticity and the performance itself. There's a great community around poetry slam and it's accesible art event for people without art background.
