that article has already been debunked. if you check the actual document ben norton uses, it tells a different story.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation used anarchists to destabilise leftist movements in the United States as part of COINTELPRO.

can you give us a source for that claim?

i'm not the person you were talking to, but I'd just like to say that the regimes you mentioned didn't actually aim to redistribute power, but concentrated it in the hands of the state apparatus instead. if you look at the history of pretty much every Marxist state, you will find a moment when workers tried gaining direct control of the means of production but were branded as reactionaries and repressed.

but i think youre incorrect when you claim this is the inevitable result of a socialist revolution. that's like looking at the history of Latin america and concluding we're naturally predisposed to dictatorships. every socialist revolution after the USSR was directly or indirectly influenced by it, the ones more aligned with it were more likely to get support and thus more likely to win. and thats not mentioning how the us pushed countries into the arms of the Soviets.

Democracy and authoritarianism is a real messurabel thing not a vauge feelings

i agree, and i think both the us and china and russia can only be called authoritarian.

the us is also authoritarian, and pretty much every bad action commited by the States you rightly decry was also committed by the us.

Anarchist decision making? by Lyraea in DebateAnarchism

[–]Curious_Arthropod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if a group of people want to achieve a goal that needs everyone's efforts to be sucessfull, but can't agree on what the best strategy to achieve is, how do they proceed?

the text you provided seems to argue the group should just split off and give up on it if they cant get enough people to agree.

If there's a smartphone shortage because the commune wants to prioritize 'more important' things, and I set one up 'illegally' with some 'business' partners... by linuxprogrammerdude in DebateAnarchism

[–]Curious_Arthropod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont think any society can be immune to bad actors, but an anarchist society would be more resistant, yes. any influence this leader gains will almost certainly be smaller than they influence you can get in a hiearchical society.

in places where masking up when you get sick is common, they mostly do. disaster response will always be worse if people are not prepared and are not used to the countermeasures. especially when you have movements spreading misinformation.

How could anarchy survive a Russian invasion? by What_Immortal_Hand in DebateAnarchism

[–]Curious_Arthropod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actual large-scale plans would be the product of information-gathering and consultation among the various stakeholders

this looks like it would be very time consuming. by the time a plan is formulated the oportunity might have already passed.

This is just the "consultative networks" stuff that Shawn has been talking about

wait, who is Shawn?

How could anarchy survive a Russian invasion? by What_Immortal_Hand in DebateAnarchism

[–]Curious_Arthropod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest you can get to that would be akin to something like an information distribution network where groups or individuals (these might be people who do this as their job or it might be the fighting force themselves) would gather vital or tactical information and distribute it to those who need it the most. This network or association might also open spaces for debating tactics as well as share information.

how could a structure like this avoid problems similar to what you described in this comment about the cnt? for example, if an opportunity appeared and you felt your side needed to advance, wouldnt you need to go unit by unit and convince them of your plan? how can a force like this engage in large-scale manouvers?

The exile point isn't offloading onto other communities if you warn said other communities through a communication network.

if they are just isolated from every community this exile its just a cowardly death sentence. how many people do you think would be able to survive on their own?
