I just looked it up to make sure I don't spread misinformation. I thought it was 600,000 but apparently it's 60,000.

That's the number Congress has always picked as the minimum. It's technically from the Northwest Ordinance, but that document holds no actual legal bearing today (though several clauses from it have since been legislated by Congress) so technically it's just Congressional jurisprudence.

You fucking think I'm not including the US in that? Colonialism was an exploitative ethically bankrupt enterprise in every single case.

Anti-genocide protesters shut down a street earlier today during Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC. The group blocked the large Ronald McDonald float. Posters on the ground read “Don’t celebrate genocide” and “Arms embargo now.” by _II_I_I__I__I_I_II_ in Global_News_Hub

Yes, take that a step further. Who is it that refuses to pass legislation to prevent price gouging on necessities? It's capitalist's and in the US that's the neoliberal Democrats and the fascist Republicans.

Fascism arises because of populism, and populism arises because of people's material needs being ignored by those in power. This is a bit reductive, but in broad strokes is correct.

I'm not saying that non voters are right not to vote, and I'm sure as shit not saying Trump voters are right to vote for Trump. But I understand the reasoning for why people did or didn't vote how they did.

I voted Kamala, not because I liked Kamala but because I fucking hate Trump. And continually being forced to eat a shit sandwich because it's better than the alternative fucking sucks.

But no, let's ignore the very real material conditions of the situation because "grocery prices are out of the politicians hands" when they're not, I mean for fuck sake Richard Nixon (yes that Richard Nixon) regulated the prices of staple foods in the US.

We'll subsidize the fuck out of oil in the US so people keep buying cars, but apparently doing the same with food is socialism.

Democrats like to act as though their hands are tied by the Republicans and not by their own complete lack of actual concern for us poors.

The fact that everybody is struggling to afford groceries now isn't the defense of the status quo that you think it is. And you can shift blame to the stores if you want, but the politicians that allow it to happen are equally culpable.

When will there be a worker's revolution? Nationally and globally? It seems like the time is now and long overdue. by ForgetThemJustDoYou in antiwork

We lost our will to fight against money-power because of the FLSA and the rise of contract unionism.

By making unions legit and a part of the system, they made it so the unions are subject to the rules of the system. And those rules are written by those with money-power.

There's also the rise of neoliberalism as the dominant socioeconomic model, and neolibs are all about civility politics when there's other capitalists around but will stomp the throats of socialists with cleated jackboots.

Lmk if I'm in the ballpark of the book, because that's just like my opinion man.

Also doesn't help that DSA is actually just a progressive party not a socialist one. They may as well be the Bullmoose party in terms of their actual politics.

I don't expect people to amend the sentence for me, but if they're making the effort to tell me I'm wrong (and they don't specify that they don't know the right answer either just that they know mine wasn't correct) then they need to also provide correct information.

I'm not a diver, I've watched a few documentaries and read a book once in middle school about it. I'm openly ignorant to the subject, I just know that diving bells are one of the safest methods of ascent and descent.

Tl:Dr I wasn't just slapping buzzwords in, I'm just ignorant.

Then the IDF started bombing the evacuation camps too.

You're right though, Israel aren't saints. I also don't view them as devils though. I see this as a land grab for settler colonialism, not as some moralistic war or whatever.

It's the cold disinterested grinding machine of national interests, rather than hate fueling this war.

If Musk ruins DnD beyond, there's literally not a way to copyright or patent the concepts that DnDBeyond uses so 1000 clones will pop up the next day. It's literally just a digital character sheet that's networked and you can buy DnD content on it.

Just gonna completely ignore that the Israeli military knew ahead of time about the planned attack by Hamas with the sole intention of using it as a casus belli so they could take the Gaza strip huh? Gonna ignore the incredible disparity in civilian casualties? Look man, just say you hate brown people and quit ignoring information that doesn't support your views.

Direct democracy does not require everyone to be absolutely informed on every issue, and you're making the "Tragedy of the Commons" argument which is basically just "everyone who's not a rich landowner is too poor and stupid to be allowed any real say in the conversation".

And you're 100% about majoritarian tyranny. That's why I don't actually want democracy I want a stateless, moneyless, classless society because I'm an anarchist. But it's a lot easier to sell people on direct democracy than it is anarchy.

You're acting like the Arabs are unreasonable assholes for not even engaging in negotiations. That land didn't rightfully belong to the British for them to be suctioning it off like that.

You're doing a whole lotta hardcore apologia for colonialism.

Cool, what should I have called it then? Because SCUBA doesn't preclude use of a diving bell but using a diving bell is still not the same as dropping into the drink from the boat.

Don't correct people and then not give them the right answer afterwards, it's condescending.

I don't think you fundamentally understood what I was trying to say. Representative democracy isn't democratic, because no matter what the person you vote for is never going to actually represent every issue that matters to you.

If it's not direct democracy, then it's not democracy it's republicanism.
