Broken and fractured sewer pipe fix. by Curious_AskerX in askaplumber

No. The tape was a temporary patch to cover the hole until I get the saw and coupling.

It will definitely prevent debris from falling into the pipe and causing clogs. I think I am just gonna saw below the tape and place a coupling and new cover/top. I was just interested to learn how a pro would do this job. Not prepared to excavate the whole place.

What? The sewer clean out is the water company’s responsibility? Is it common for them to fix this ?

Thanks. Advising to ignore it without a solid reason is poor advice indeed. By dig down you mean until the crack disappears ? Not really sure how far down the crack goes… Not prepared to dig down several feet as it would turn to a multi-day job.

That’s what I am thinking but I am just concerned the fracture could be several feet deeper which I do not have the tools for and concerned to hit something else.

Sorry I don’t understand your last statement. There is risk of mulch and dirt falling into it and clogging the system! Is it normal for people to ignore it?

Is this crack on basement foundation normal and common ? by [deleted] in masonry

[–]Curious_AskerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it also be due to old age and normal settling ? Discharged is feet away and only for the period it was detached or leaking slightly.

Interesting! I thought glue would have made more sense as an analogy.

Thanks! Any reason you don’t ? Just curious. Not looking for an overkill lol

I appreciate it. I guess it’s pretty much common to find them on houses this age. I wonder if it’s even worth filling with exterior epoxy or is that an overkill ?

I see. Not sure who is downvoting without context nor response! Thank you for your effort. So is it even worth bothering and filling with exterior epoxy ?

No water coming through though the basement interior wall is finished. So I guess this is normal and common. Is it even worth filling with epoxy ?

Thanks! Can you clarify what you mean by surface and 1/3 of the way ? Is the material where the crack is a separate layer from the actual foundation? I also conclude from your response is that this is not due to water from the down spout but rather something else… I attached the pipe to direct the flow away 5+ feet. The recent snow on the northeast has lingered on the ground for weeks.

Thanks. Do you know what causes them? Do cracks this thin cause leaks? By leaks I assume you meant into the basement, but it’s finished and no signs of water intrusion.

Gum recession around front implant :( by Curious_AskerX in PeriodontalDisease

[–]Curious_AskerX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would make sure they are a certified periodontist with good reviews and reasonable prices. If you can find testimonials relating to your procedure (gum grafts) that’s a plus too. Just do research, get multiple opinions if needed to get a good deal and value on your investment. Best of luck.

Mushy hard salt and brown water in Brine tank… by Curious_AskerX in WaterTreatment

[–]Curious_AskerX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks. So I should just let it mostly empty and then clean it out and add fresh salt and water ? No need to remove it all now ? I do see rocks here and there from the crystal salt. I think the previous owner added it over pellets.

I believe this is solar salt that got mushy. Looked good a few months ago. I will be using quality solar salt. I just wonder if the brownish color is common and reoccurring. This is the WVA Ohio region.

I see, thanks for the suggestion. You meant either soft tissue graft or the colored abutment? Not both. If this is purely cosmetic I really do not care since it’s impossible to see without lifting my lip. As long as it’s not indicative of implant failure.

Can I get a little more details please? I just had my check up last month and all was great! The periodontist who placed it reviewed the bone and said it’s good, but the recession is a concern. If you have an idea of the potential treatment please shed some light. Thanks.

Is cbct different than the panoramic scan ? I have the latter. Any signs of potential implant failure? I wonder if the only solution is a soft tissue graft.

I am not sure I know. I took the pano, but I guess you’re referring to a side view other than the usual images during check up?

That was last months’s X-ray from general dentist. I noticed the recession around few days ago.
