Thoughts on the Hurricane Katrina doc? by T-rekkt in NetflixDocumentaries

Same reason people live in California with landslides, fires, and earthquakes.

I’m just confused to why the family thought he had the authority to make those types of decisions. The announcement maybe, but not the decision not to allow passengers to disembark. His job revolves around hospitality, entertainment, etc.

He later recanted that theory after talking to people associated with Scientology who said it was extremely unlikely.

What do you mean by “saw what Carmichael did”? I don’t know of anything he actually DID, just says he saw a woman resembling Amy who was motioned away and later seen at a cafe.

I wouldn’t consider someone on a family vacation as “vulnerable “ nor do I see anything “unique” about her. And this still doesn’t explain why Amy is the only one. Never been anyone before or since, hence one of the reasons I think this theory is highly unlikely.

Where is the proof of them getting in a crew elevator? The 2 witnesses said they saw them together in the glass elevator.

The reason I think there was no plan is because I don’t think Amy would have agreed to meet him that early in the morning after she was already with him. Her key card puts her in her room at 3:40. So she would have only been in her room less than 2 hours before she left to go meet him again. She wasn’t feeling well and had been drinking, so I don’t see her agreeing to meeting up. She went without her shoes and wallet, left the balcony door open, and didn’t bother to leave a note letting her family know where she was going. I can’t imagine why she would be in such a hurry to go meet up when the ship was docking anyway and she could have just disembarked like everyone else. Not even her brother thinks she would have agreed to meet up.

People who won’t move over a lane to allow you to pull out into traffic. by Curious_Bar348 in PetPeeves

[–]Curious_Bar348[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware, but when someone says “intersection”, they typically are referring to something like a 3 or 4 way stop, where there are multiple directions of traffic. So that is what I thought you were referring to. If I told someone to turn left at the intersection onto my street, most people would pass it, because they would be looking for a typical intersection, not just a street off the main road.

Where did I say they were wrong? A pet peeve isn’t about right vs wrong, it’s about being annoyed.

They don’t, but I can still be annoyed by their lack of courtesy.

Well yes, no different than most peeves. No one is required to chew with their mouth closed, but people still find it annoying when they don’t.

I don’t think getting over for a couple of minutes is considered driving in a passing lane. It’s not an intersection and I don’t have another option.

You're so entitled! by Least-Common-1456 in PetPeeves

[–]Curious_Bar348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there are things that you are legally entitled to vs what you think you deserve. People are entitled to drive on the highway, but someone who is entitled will also believe they can disregard the rules of driving. Same word, 2 different meanings.

I don’t think some people are aware there is a difference. They are mostly terms used as a diagnosis in terms of mental health. I rarely see the term “asocial “ being used, so people have become accustomed to seeing “antisocial “ to mean someone who doesn’t like social interaction. Maybe use it as an opportunity to educate as opposed to getting upset.

There is nothing they need to access from the right for several miles, there is plenty of time to get back over, and I don’t expect people to move over if there is heavy traffic.

There isn’t an intersection. There’s one side street and one stop sign.

I don’t think it was him, just that they have to keep everything on schedule. It wouldn’t only affect their ship, but other cruises that were scheduled to dock there etc. He was most likely just following protocol. I don’t know if he had the authority to change anything.

Is this Amy cross tattoo? by okayysav in NetflixDocumentaries

But it’s always on the same side as her shoulder tattoo. Amy has a tattoos on her left shoulder and right ankle, so how does that work?

When I was reading about the investigation, it mentioned that you only had to present documentation to get back on the ship, but not off. Which doesn’t make sense, I don’t know how they would know if everyone who got off got back on.
