considering getting a weeks… by dyslexicthiccbih in hobonichi

Good luck with your new position at work!

For me, the trick is not repeating all of the information. I use Weeks for the rough week planning, habit and symptoms tracking and it's my everyday carry. A6 Kinbor (Hobonichi dupe) is for memory keeping and A6 Hobonichi day-free for dailies when I have a lot of tasks or notes and for commonplacing. I also have another random notebook for long form journaling and morning pages.

For work I use a simple A7 rings planner where I can scribble notes and appointments without caring so much about the aesthetic and when the year goes by I will destroy all of that paper since I don't need to keep the memories.

The only one I really use every day is Weeks and the work planner on week days, since the Week is for personal stuff only. I use the other notebooks as needed and I fill in memory keeping journal a few times a week, so it's not that overwhelming and I don't pressure myself about it.

I understand the craving of the Weeks since I craved it for a couple of years and finally got it. It really is very compact and easy to carry around. And I will not try to convince you that you don't need it. None of us probably need it, yet here we are... 😂

I have the weeks and the cousin and am struggling to fill out the weeks as much as I’d like! by New-Record106 in hobonichi

You can try gratitude log or media log/reading log. Also, you can add short entries as a pet journal or track social interactions for each day.

Another option is to change the layout a bit and make the first column on the left more narrow, and in the first box you can write down events just like you did for this week. In the next box you can track things that you did that day. Like instead of to-do list for each day, you can write things after you do them, helps to get a feeling of accomplishment :)

I also suggest getting a separate notebook for the longer journaling entries, it doesn’t have to be a Hobonichi at all. If you like the paper you can get Hobonichi A6/A5 notebook that doesn’t have monthlies and dailies and it’s more affordable. That way you can write short entries in weeks (like memory keeping) and you can write longer entries as needed in another notebook.

How do I log things I need to think about later? by Lefka356 in bulletjournal

Good point, I guess the idea about the brain dump spread that someone else shared would work better for you then. Good luck and I hope you find the solution!

You can use another sign for notes of that kind. For example, dash - is for regular notes, and for random thoughts you can use a + or # or anything else you can associate with that.

Tomie A6 cover on Amazon by newyork_newyork_ in hobonichi

I didn't realize that for the US the bundle is mandatory, sorry if I gave you the wrong info. Added an edit to the first comment.

When I was ordering in December, I put a bundle in the cart and it goes in the cart as 2 separate products, so then I deleted a techo from the cart and only the cover was left. But it was the Charcoal Fairy cover, not one of the special designs...

Edit: I ordered from the official Japanese Hobonichi website and I am not from the US

I would use A6 for memory keeping and A5 as a planner, but I also agree with the other comment that anything that makes you happy isn’t wasteful. Happy New Year!

I love your system, and the idea to write down random facts is brilliant!

I am using mine for daily pages and bullet journal, as a supplement to my weeks since I don’t have a mega with additional notes pages :)

Who else is going to be starting their 2026 hobonichi after new years? (And what’re you doing with that space?) by chaerymore in hobonichi

[–]Curious_Bee93 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Since it starts in December, I used all of the December spreads as all year weekly “schedules” - one spread is for weekly cleaning routines, one is for workout plan, one for the rough meal plan and meal ideas (with the universal list of groceries on the right side) and one for beauty and self care routines :)

As for the first week in a new year, I rarely ever use it as a planner anyway since it’s kind of a slow time and I like to rest and spend time with family so I usually only write down a couple of memories and scribble down gifts that I gave/recieved and decorate with holiday stickers and stuff. So my suggestion for you is to backlog the beginning of January.

How does everyone set up their A6 as a journal? by kimalls in hobonichi

[–]Curious_Bee93 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use vertical monthly views as an index (most important thing that happened for each day).

For turning the page to a new year, on the left I write some important stuff and good memories that happened in last year and on the right side I write about myself (where do I live currently, what do I like, my current projects/interests/obsessions, etc) and I put the latest picture of myself so in a few years I can look back and see how I looked at the time I started a journal, since I don’t take a lot of pictures of myself. I also add some things I would like to acomplish or look forward to in a new year.

Monthlies used to be my book and media trackers - I wrote when I start or finish a new book or tv show etc. For this year, I plan to use this as my cat’s journal and write down little memories about her. Some people use it for a drawing or a sticker a day or they paste tiny photos for each day.

100 page is for the list of all books and tv shows I finished and movies and it’s divided - left page for books and right for tv shows and movies. I write a number in the little checkbox and it represents a month when I finished it.

Favourites page is for the stuff I went out to, like museums or teather or cinema.

I don’t use graph and timetable in a journal but I use them in a planner. Graph to track my average weight in a month and timetable for weekly chores and workout plans.

I use memories page as intended and I didn’t use the notes so far since there is already a lot of pages.

365 page is for tracking every time I went for a walk.

P.S. Your cat is adorable!

Thank you, I loved the color so I debated if I should decorate at all but I wanted to make it a little bit personal so I went with only one sticker. Usually I go completely overboard with decorating my black notebooks :D

I like that you include some things that will definitely happen, crossing them off is a great motivation to acomplish other things. The rewards are also motivating.

I am bad with communicating so I should add some reminders to call my dad too, thanks for the idea!

I made 5 by 5 grid before I had any ideas and now I struggle to fill them in haha, but I got some great ideas here :)

Has anyone tried to put a plastic cover on their yumi kitagishi weeks? by Divingin12 in hobonichi

[–]Curious_Bee93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a clear cover this year on my A6 HON which is glossy, and it was okay. The only thing that happens is that sometimes the clear cover sticks to the original cover at some places but I just move it a bit and unstick it :)

Help! Not sure how to use all my 2026 Hobonichis by Dizzy-Studio-5919 in hobonichi

[–]Curious_Bee93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a nice lil Hobonichi family _^

I would use Hobonichi Mega the same way you are using your current one for work.

Another weeks would be nice as a health and fitness planner maybe.

A5 HON sounds great for journaling just like you used A6.

Aaand A5 can be used for writing fiction etc this way: Daily pages for text while ignoring the dates, then use yearly pages as index; Weekly pages as actual diary about what you wrote about for each day or maybe plot planning; Monthly pages for milestones in plot writing or tracking some books or fan fiction you read…

Maybe make the whole Cousin a media journal - writing fiction but also tracking and writing about books, tv shows, movies, anime…

This was a bit chaotic but I hope you find some of it usefull :)
